I've always wanted an emulator for the .exe platform.
I can't wait to play it.

What if the .exe file happens to be Explorer.exe?

Is it just me or am I the only one not trusting people who are claiming to have a psp emulator (in the works) and linking to a file.

Plz don't open it guys, I think it's the guy from ePSP. So mod's, plz delete the link and let him post a link if the program is done and when he shows us proof, like pics etc.

Then it will most likely show an Error.

- I posted this to tell people that there is a development of this accord is happening.
- I have only started and do not yet have an emulator running
- If no-one wants this then I'll abandon this project and leave the PSP to other 'Reliable' developers.
- If you can run windows and play GBA then obviously .exe emulation is possible.
- I am making this to get games like worms and half-life 1 working.
- Oh and by the way, where is this: Linking to file? If it says 2life.co.nr that happens to be the website name and for if you want more info/news.

Good luck. I can't say I agree with your logic on exe emulation, but I dont want to discourage you either. If you think its actually possible to do something like this and have the time to spend, people will listen, however there have been quite a few people who post news such as this and 99% of the time it turns out to just get hits on their site that doesn't offer anything new/unique making it short lived and rather pointless. That is the reason everyone is being cautious when they hear people claiming (n64/psx/exe/finalburn "emulators").

other platform emulation has been possible because of there being loads of open source examples to port...
i dont believe emulating exes is easily possible for the simple reason that you would have to code most of the windows backend to run an exe (yeah right)...
and frankly, that is just about a hair's breadth away from being impossible...

show us what have you coded in the past...
or stfu and do some homework before crapping all over the psp forums...

you'd need a way to process the instructions in a way the psp would understand (mips yey!), Basically you'd be doing wine, and as far as i know, the psp doesnt have the resources or speed to handle that level of emulation, Sure someone ported bochs and got win95 running, but it's not like the thing ran at a usefull speed, also in order to run an emulated environment with which to run that exe in, you'd need to write something to support everything the emulator needs, and given that most applications have fixed sizes (which for wine doesnt really matter), the psp would have great difficulty in handling it, unless of course all the 'exe's you plan on running are the same size, or smaller than the psp's screen size.

You're also linking to your site (which in addition to containing very little information about the project), also seems to look like you plan on offering full games, and full movies, which would be a big nono in posting here.

Let me get this straight, your making a windows .exe explorer for the PSP? Or, your making a PSP emulator for the computer?

Right so Everyone says it's hard...
You cannot say it is hard if you barely know how to code or just think it's that way, becuase of all the funky numbers, varibles etc.

My original plan was to port Wine. This program which is used to run Windows .exe on Linux. This has already been ported to OS X through Darwine, Link.

So if I follow these guidelines, follow ideas such as the Quake, bochs and GBA emulators then this emulator becomes very possible. This App will not use the Windows shell but as WINE defines you can run the apps through other means ie: by itself.

Yes I will be looking for help and not de-moralizing posts of how hard it is, because I know that this is hard and will take a lot of time to get this to work. So the more hands the faster and the better.

Please give ideas, examples of code, programs here for development use.

My site has just been launched so don't think much of it as content/catgories are there to say something is there. I will be changing this as I can.

Thanks for all your concern and de-moralizing messages but I am determined and will continue. For those who do care thanks and would really appreciate any help.

it is pretty hard. also some of the games would be way too intense if you got it to actually work, and the framerate would be very slow

Yes I have done only one and that is a Rock, paper and scissors game, which i made quite complex. I won't be able to upload it as it was deleted off my Drive along with every other file at college.

lets see here rock, paper, scissors (pretty basic and simple game to make) and now you are going to try and make a exe emulator for the psp. good luck..

fusionx...take the comments here to heart...at least the ones that matter. Fanjita is a VERY accomplished PSP coder by all accounts, including my own. So is TeamOverload and others that have posted. While the concept might be solid, the reality is that you're dealing with an extremely limited processor speed, sections of the board that are STILL locked off from general access (unfortunately) and limited memory that can be accessed or is even available in any way, shape, or form. Anything running above, say, Windows 3.1 level is going to be next to impossible to get to run in any kind of useable fashion.

I'm not saying not to do it...I'm just saying that many of the people providing some of the insight in this thread are actually pretty accomplished on their own and are worth listening to.
