Default MbShell - A module based shell [build-005]

Hello guys,

MbShell Artilery is a shell written in C, we are currently at version 0.05.

Artilery 0.05 features:
- New theme
- UMD loading + return to shell function
- Slideshow application (reads png and jpg)
- Jpg image support up to 1280x960
- Graphical MP3 player (under construction, but functional)
- USB connection
- Detailed battery indicator
- Icon and windowing support with drop shadows

The graphics have been done by Afinnity and the programming as usual by me. Here is another screenshot with the applications running:

You can download the latest build click here. But be aware that this is a shell in development, it's not stable. Read the readme.txt for installation instructions. And give me some feedback if you like.

There is a special theme thread started by Ciddan here:
http://forums.qj.net/psp-themes-mods-media/32879-official-mbshell-skins-thread.html#post340161

and here is a cool flash demo made by Death259: click.

Tnx I'm going to work on the MP3 playback some more, so it will play all files in the mp3 dir. And a way to stop/pause/resume/ play them.

And I need (to make..) some more bitmapped fonts, the current one is just awefull.

I'm open for suggestions btw, I just got a very nice feature request from someone, it might even make this shell useful right away when I'll release the next version.

Depends on how you look at it, you can change the wallpaper.tga if you like, but it is lacking interface support (like shiny menu's) at the moment. I'm still working on the png loading support. It saves screenshots in png format for now.

This is very cool, this could be one of those "custom firmwares" that will be coming out starting next year. But who knows you might give up or something.

Yeah, that's a funny thing the analog stick. It seems that it doesn't return to dead center when you release it, that's causing the 'drifting' pointer. I will give it some more room. I tweaked it for my psp, but I should've figured it was different for every psp. Will be solved in the next release.

Maybe you can gain some knowledge from FileAssistant++ source code?
It's free and available to everybody who's interested.
Give me a shout if you need any help understanding it...

This is very interesting. Could be useful. yeah seriously a videoplayer would be great with some serious interfacing. Im talking menus and folder creation. Like a mini windows for the psp. I know it might sound like im going WAY overboard but thast what i want. I know it will take a long time but im willing to accept the fact that we have to wait for things to happen or make things happen. i can't code so i guess im a waiter. lol. Still its great. It should prgress nicely if you work hard and concentrate.

excellent!!

this PWNS all LUA shells (no offence to all the people who have worked hard on them)

here are some feature that could be done in time:

1) basic apps (such as alarm, calculator, clock etc.)

2) video playback (this will probably take some time but its possible in C)

3) like the Tedzero browser, a sort of "explorer" for the PSP, which can rename, move, and delete files.

OMG!!!!

This is so friggen awsome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can't wait for this to be improved more. Move along PSIX, theres a new shell in town

But anyway, make sure you add everything in the above post and perhaps even UMD support so you can run a UMD movie from any region on your PSP and the ability to make the PSP's Proccesor run a 266/333 mhz for UMD games! That would be awesome...

Try dumping the psp bios (flash0) and using the prx files in the kd folder. maybe that can make the program have even more functions like wifi or umd or even video. there is an audio.prx in the bios and i checked it out and it seems that ur audio.prx is different that the one in the bios, if someone could figure out how to use the audio.prx in this program this would open a huge door!
