The guide should be OK. A mod told me that the only thing that might be removed in the future is the Additional information part where it says that you can convert ISOs to BIN.
P.S. I cleared out half of my PM box.

Excuse me, but isn't it hypocritical to allow talk about PSX ISOs, but not PSP? It's just as bad, just because the games are a few years old, it's still illegal. Sony is making money by selling ports of PSX games to PSP, even though it's real bad of them.
Do not misunderstand me, I believe that this emulator is an excellent idea, and it's just what I need to breathe some life into my 1.5 PSP (laptop is much more useful, IMO).
Oh crap here it comes...
We're going to have to draw the line in the sand somewhere guys. Everyone's going ot be crying "hypocrites!" to no end. I guess it is time for PSPU to take a stance the whole PSX BIN file thing (which technically isn't an ISO).
Lol this is gonna be painful... I hope not though. :p I think that PSPU should be ok with this, but not hosting the .bin files. I mean come on, this is some MAJOR homebrew here! :Punk:
Rest assured I am currently in discussion with fellow mods and the admin so that we can get the official line drawn. I know what my stance would be but that is not necasarily the stance of the admin but this issue should be dealt with well before the release of the emulator.Zitat:

I think that as Sony are not directly being affected by people re-playing their old PSX games or even bad people downloading them either way they arent going to lose money on PSX sales.
I personally would rather say buy PoPoloCrois for PSP than buy/download the PSX version.
Obviously PSX games shouldnt be hosted but help with bin files etc should be allowed. Just as help with Snes roms is aloud, its basically the same thing!!
ok i converted a fft game to a bin format but can i play this with the pspsone posted now?
*reads* nvm *cries*
I have my game converted, now all I have to do is wait patiently.... :)
*5 seconds of waiting*
Oh man, this is hard when you're waiting for the greates emu ever to be released.
I'll just keep myself occupied in the meantime with the newest build of Iris, which should be released much sooner then this emu. It might even be released this week!
Which technically is just another image format. That's why I mentioned this like 15 pages back. There are plenty of image formats out there, really, a bunch...but the content remains the same. If PSPUpdates is to allow PSX image talk, its more than likely to cause a stir somewhere. Troubleshooting PSX images is = to pretty much same as troubleshooting PSP ISOs. (PSX games are worth more to my eyes than PSP games accually. :) ) But anyway, even if its not allowed to be talked about, it doesn't exacly take a brainiac to find out how to aquire or manipulate these files. lol. BTW, Are there any Public Domain psx games or somethign out? These could be used to give examples no? (just in case this subject gets TaBoOeD..)
EDIT: NVRM, this is too tough to call.
Yes, it is tough to call - and I hope that is remembered when we do have to take a stance, one way or the other. All I will say is that certain aspects of our Piracy Policies are currently being reviewed - if anything changes, an announcement will be made. Until then, please err on the side of caution.
man i hope we can just play any game without configurating anything.
i used burnatonce to make a game bin, then used ePSXe to test it, i got the green Piracy warning then all black.
PS:i hope i am allowed to say that last sentence.
Hi Pacmanfan, you can emulate the sound with Media Engine. :)
http://yoyofr.proboards44.com/index....7726744&page=2
...Is it possible on pspsone?
Some news?
I thought access to the media engine was still locked at this point...but man if they finally managed to get some code running on that, that is sweet...
If you can do it on one project you can do it on another, as long as they share how it was done...and as long as the sound requirments of PSPOne will work with the media engine...Hopefully someday we have full access to that thing...it's pretty much a second 333mhz cpu without a cache....good stuff...
man i want to play FFVII so bad!
I wanna play FFVII-IX so bad lol!
If this emu pulls it off it will be the greatest emu ever for PSP!
Now what would be really cool would be to use the PSP's GPU to smooth the PS1 textures etc like the PS2 does!! I think we'd get the faster loading times from mem stick anyway.
ehem, let's wait for it to be up-and-running at playable speeds first, before discussing post-processing effects ;)
I've read most of this forum and I haven't seen this question asked so ill ask it. Once I get the .bin files from my discs (FF8=4discs) is there someway to make them one big file and gzip them all together (I have a 2gig so it should fit) or does it not matter?
You cant do it.
Just gzip each disc, whats the difference/point in making one big file??
can we actually stop talking about pirating/copying isos and actually get back to the main topic, PSPSone?
also, i've seen some people saying that the alpha cant display 3D graphics, has anybody even watched the demo for more than a few seconds? cos i suggest you do.
Maybe I should be asking this in another thread, but had anyone tested this with the new GTA eboot loader yet? I think a few pages back someone said it worked with the 2.0 one, but I'd like to know about 2.5 and up, since this emu is really the only thing stopping me from upgrading.
any news????????????????
Excellent suggestion.. Quite frankly, it's still early to be worrying about it anyways.Zitat:

Likely when it comes time to switch discs you'll be prompted to insert the next disc and you'll be given the option of doing so.Zitat:

It could be tricky. I've never played a multi-disc game through emu before (though I'm sure it's easy with PC as you have a disc drive...).
We'll have to wait and see I guess.
Consider that this emu is likely to need every bit of memory is can take and may only work on 1.5 without Kernel mode (I don't fully understand it myself yet, so no flaming on this point please). The new eLoader sure is an achievement (arigato fanjita!)Zitat:

Do you people remember Bleemcast! ?
I'm not a programmer so I don't know much about PSP or Dreamcast coding, but I do know that the Playstation Portable is, technically, more powerful than the Sega Dreamcast game console.
So the following quote intrigues me:
"As promised from the beginning, the games ran in a 640x480 resolution, as opposed to the PSX's and even PlayStation 2's run on PSX games' 320x240 resolution, and featured anti-aliasing and bilinear filtering. This drastically improved the games' graphics by much, but also bought out some graphical imperfections that were originally hidden in the lower resolution."
Where i'm going with this is that if the Dreamcast can do emulation that good, then, shouldn't the PSP be capable of it too?
Since you know everything.Zitat:

How come SNES cant run perfect on all games on the psp. If the psp is more powerfull on the SNES.
Answere is that your using software to do what the hardware would do. So you need much more power then the original console, Also you need to code everything.
Soviet, he's just making some theories based on previous developement of the PSX emulation.
Also, another reason why it may be difficult is: Even though something may have more power than a console, does not mean that it can operate at such a level. The PSP was designed to be portable, a console was not. Each may share similar specs, but they are far from similar on how they run, just keep that in mind ;)
Answer is that you're wrong. Most incompatible games are either a) bad rips, b) PAL-formatted, or c) graphics-intensive.Zitat:

Mode 7 emulation is tough for a handheld system, and emulating the FX chip... damn near impossible.
Also, MGS1 players should know this, to easily beat Psycho Mantis, you need to switch controller ports, i think that you cant do it on a PSP, maybe you can if you change somewhere in the options, but i doubt PMF will bother to do that, so is it possible to defeat psycho mantis without switching controller ports?
If you're not a MGS1 player, Psycho mantis reads your mind, well controller port 1, so you can switch controls.
Yes, it's possible, just difficult.
To switch discs in say FF or MGS I would assume you'd press start or select to open the emu menu and just load in a different bin file then go back to the game and it will think you've changed discs.
When you finish cd1 of final fantasy VII or any other game it asks you if you want to save your game? Then it tells you to change to cd2. So, save it, run the next disk, load the save file. I did that with the ePSXe emulator on my pc.
I played grandia (2cd) and finished it.
If you could bring up the emu overlay and access the menu it would be much easier to switch discs on the fly as I mentioned.
But yea, that would also work too! ^_-
i cant wait for this, I would love to play Chrono Cross on my PSP, so does anyone have an update on when this might be coming out? How big will the PSone games be as in size wise? and where would we get PSP games? in what format do that have to be b/c if I remember correctly, I used to get them in a .bin and .cue format
Please READ through or SEARCH through this very thread to find the answers to all your questions and more!!Zitat:

Yay for search!
lets just get back on topic for enthusiasm and suggestions for the emulator, NOT about 'how can i shrink X game' and etc
Sounds good, as suggested by both NeilR and Malum.
