im trying to say 1.5 has kernal(kernal=speed increase) and it cant even run full speed on all snes roms...so a 2.6 with w/o kernel isnt going to be able to run it worth crap if we dont see full speed snes because the ps1 is way more powerful than th snes.but knowing the seen im going to be eating my words lol BTW your avi is sweet psp haxor...

I don't know if we can accuratly compare Snes emulators directly to PS1 emulators as the PS1's hardware maybe alot more similar to that of the PSP and therefore alot of emulator processing can be done on the hardware and not 90% on the CPU which is what the Snes emu does with a little help from the Me.
PSPOne possibly can be coded to run most functions to hardware and have very little software rendering so it could be just as fast as Snes em, maybe faster after a lot of work.
Who knows...

sorry to burst ppls bubble but... unless you have 1.5 firmware you will not be able to play PS1 games because of the size of the roms. Right now 2.0+ only has about 18megs of memory space to work with,,, u gotta think how many psone roms are 18mb< ??? The psone emu demo works on 2.0 but i'm convinced until 2.0+ gets kernel access that psone will be a dream come true for 1.5 users only.

couldn't n64 rokms hypotheticly be streamed from the memory card, emulating the memory card as an n64 cartridge?
we havnt found out how to use virtual memory yet.....
Erm I believe the ps1 had 3 megs, 2 megs ram, 1 meg vram. N64 had 4 (or 8 with expansion) Megs of unfiled memory (render buffer, zbuffer and textures where kept in main ram). N64 also could stream data from rom to ram faster then ps1 could.Zitat:

The reason SNES emulation is tricky is because pretty much everything is done in software using the PSPs various processors. There's no video hardware calls to intercept, same with the Amiga, Genesis etc. It's very CPU intensive.Zitat:

If there are built in functions (assuming the psp has support natively for it) then we just have to figure them out. In the case that it doesn't, we will need to write a memory manager.

atm actualy yes. This is why i keep saying my emu will only suport roms 16 MB or less for a long time. In the future I want to look into the idea of putting all of the game code / instructions in ram and keeping all the game data in rom since (from what i can see) the n64 tends to dma over game data into main ram and only does it here and there (not constant streams). Theres a new PC Psx emu that just came out of nowhere called PSX Emulator... the thing is, it runs full speed and its totally self contained. No plugins or complications, just runs the files and bam there you go. check it out at the ngemu website. Maybe PacManFan should look into this one for some ideas.

Hey, this is my first post but im a long time forum reader, i just felt compeled to say that pacman, your the best, like seriously, i can only imagine how secluded im gonna be from my family and my girlfriend, hell my work, when you emu is released, I, and im sure alot of other people, apreciate it so much
Now see, this ^ is the kind of stuff we (developers) need in the scene!
