whats the use if you rip it out, your gonna have to make a custom firmware in order for it to have any use
Well, i wasn't sure if we could go into the firmware and use the coding to do this, but re-route the download link to a pc. That would kick ass. But then again so would pspsone
was PMF's last update still that one about him making a team?
dont wanna look threw 50 some odd pages
Man...no progress? PSmonkey (a.k.a nexis) Is making CRAZY progress! :D
ya but he is also gonna halt for awhile to work on Iris..yay!
he said he would work on iris after the next public release... or after he gets the emu to work... so he may not work on iris for a while...
yeah, that was pmf's last update. Hopefully it means the pspsone will be done soon. Good luck pmf, we're all rooting you on
Say somethin pacmanfan, plz!!!!!   :Argh:
You guys didn't know he worked for sony and was trying to keep the ps1 emulator news quiet?
Lol, anyway I wonder if PMF was telling the truth about the whole team thing or if he just quit. I have no reason NOT to trust him, but it's just been forever.
yeah pacmanfan you gotta tell us your progress. you gotta give the noobs a reason not to upgrade.
How long has it been since the last update?
50 pages? =\Zitat:

Creating a PS1 emulator for a piece of hardware with close to no documentation is no menial task. If PacManFan was to just straight port a PC emulator in interpreter mode then it wouldn't take so long but PacManFan is making the effort so that it's a worth the time investment by going the extra mile and doing stuff like a dynamic recompiler and hardware acceleration. When it is eventually released we should have a quality product that was worth the wait.Zitat:

well in that case someone port over epsxe
If the psp can emulate itself it can emulate a psone
the psp cant emulate itself... the firmware launcher isnt emulation...
i'm sorry but your talking about PSmonkey aka nexis2600 (Monkey64)Zitat:
Zitat von somewhatnoob
the psp duzent emulate itself. the psp is built for psp games and thats not emualtion. but if im playing a gba game on it then it is emulation. its when the hardware pretends to be something ells then what it is then its emulating
He's talking about Italian Super Oreo's... (the beginning letters).Zitat:

Yeah it can using an iso loader
I have to agree with you on this one. I mean, can you imagine trying to download - over wi-fi no less - just ONE PS1 CD game? That's anywhere from 100MB to 650MB! And then you have to have a MS large enough to hold it all.Zitat:

Now, I can probably imagine them loading an emulator inside a new firmware release and THEN making you buy the damn UMD game. That way they aren't "technically" lying since all they've said so far is that they are "looking" to include some sort of PS1 emulation to the firmware. That doesn't mean the games HAVE to run off the memorystick at all. Actually, it would have been better in the long run for Sony if they had never come out with the silly UMD optical storage format at all. The major studios are dropping it due to lack of sales and everyone just rips DVDs anyway. I can rip a DVD to play on my PSP or video iPod with just a couple of clicks (Handbrake Lite on OS X rules!).
What they SHOULD have done is had internal storage of at least 1 GB flash inside the device itself AND had a dual-card reader that can read not only MS Duo Pro sticks but a newer proprietary 2 GB card/stick that they could have burned their games to. I mean, let's face it: load times SUCK on the PSP for some games (Burning Legends, Y's Napishtim, etc.) and you would have figured they would have learned their little loading lessons from the early PS1 days. Hell, even some PS2 titles have bizarre long loading times.
Another thing they COULD do but probably WON"T do is to include code in a new firmware release that would "cache" a lot of the UMD onto the memorystick itself to help eliminate long load times, and tell the firmware to look to the memorystick for such-and-such game provided the UMD is in the drive and the setting is set to ON. It could be a setting you could turn on or off depending on what the user wants to do.
But nope, you'll never see that in the current PSP...possibly in the next iteration of the PSP. Sony's learning a lot of lessons right now with this foray into the handheld console market. Let's hope they put all that learning to good use in the future.
pacmanfan,i will be forced to kill 10 kittens if you dont give an update, ill go crazy soon :humped: :Argh:

I mean they invented two disc formats they arnt going to use?
Come on sony, dont give us that bull!
Patience is a virtue...but it still sucks. (lol)
back to the previous off-topic matter - Sony, basically, is stupid when it comes to new formats.
Sony spokesman: "We here at Sony have created a new format that will drive innovation and functionality to th-"
Person 1: "Nobody cares! Geez! Dont you ever learn!?"
Person 2: "They made ANOTHER one? We just turned around to exit.."
Person 1: "Dont you guys get tired of making crap that has no future Sony?"
Sony spokesman: "...Sony does not comment on speculation or- Hey! Where are you going?"
However, I do believe that the Playstation 3 may tip things over to Sony's side in the 'format war'.
Well, no...on second thought, its the content that wins in console wars so...Sony is going to depend on Rockstar and Grand Theft Auto to bolster their new product and blur their long history of failures. If Rockstar doesnt pull through, Blu-Ray will bite the dust and join UMD in the 'recently failed attempts' list.
Sony w/ Blu-Ray is gonna win because they have the most support for the Studios.... while Microsoft only has a few big names.Zitat:

That actually doesnt matter too much. It all depends on how the public spends their $$.Zitat:

You cant just take the src and copy it so it will work on psp.
why dont u try? n00b. expse is deisgned fr windows, not for the PSP, and most windows have much more memory than the psp.Zitat:

The more I read this, the more my dreams of Lunar 2 on my PSP are shot down T_T
True, patience is a virtue.Zitat:

Wanna know why its a virtue?
Not many people have it. (Total noobs in other words)
And it pretty much is too much to ask for total noobs to be patient.
maybe not rip, but it may be possible to use it with a FW launcher (but thats pure speculation)Zitat:
