PLEASE OH PLEASE FINISH THIS.
I've been waiting for a new emulator for a while. However, since I'm using 2.0 there is no guaruntee it'll work on the eboot loader yet. Does the emulator you are working on utilize kernel?

Look, all I know about kernel is that a lot of homebrew uses it, but now more and more homebrew are coming out that avoid using it. I have no idea why this would need it more than anything else. My real flaw on this forum is my ignorance of hacking and whatnot, but I'm learning as I go.

Read his WebPage TeamOverload.
Its based on the fully functional PCSX wich started the entire PSX emulation scene.

Most likely its gonna be Kernel. I doubt it can run on User-Mode.

You're project is one of the things that excite me the most in regards to PSP emulation.
I've read your page. And im wondering.
Should you're new dynamic recompiler work as you, i and alot of others hope for.
Can we expect a almost full speed emulation..
Or a drastic improvement compared to your 2 older recompilers?

i kno what its based on. in the screens it shows him running it on a psp emulator for the pc. Is that the crappy pspe, and if so how did he get something like this to actually run on it?

I belive the screenshots are references to what resolution the games run on.
And what resolution his PSPSOne emulator currently supports.

I don't think he's actually testing games on a PC emulator.

Just my 2 cents.

Very doubtful you can get games like Final Fantasy VII to run anything near full speed on a PSP without coding down to the metal and having access to the full SDK for hardware acceleration etc.

If lets say you get a bricker eboot, then run it with PSPe, will it brick your "fake" psp? Will it tell you you could have bricked your psp? Is it useful?

Those screenshots aren't necessarily of a PSP emulator. It's likely that he's only emulating the screen dimensions so he can see what the PSX emulator will look like. That would allow him to work out problems with the basic design quickly without having to keep transferring things to the PSP to test them. It also lets him run things at full speed on the PC so he doesn't have to sit through a couple of minutes of .5fps emulation to check something.

If he's working on dynarec then testing will require either PSP emulation on a PC or actually running the thing on the PSP.

I was thinking he was using the "emulator" in the screenshots to test display modes, etc but would need to test on the PSP to check the recompiler-generated code.

I just don't see much chance that in addition to the huge task of getting the PS1 emulator working on the PSP he's simultaneously working on the huge task of real PSP emulation on a PC. And as others have noted, the current state of PSP emulation on the PC is very limited.

I don't know too much about what he's doing but it sounds like the ram switching thing would make load times afwul even though it would incerease the speed of the emulation. Is that right at all?

PacManFan: I would donate a bunch of money if you got this off the ground. But, I have to warn you, many people got screwed over with Yoshihiro and are very hesitant to donate. Personally, I have decided that i will donate $50 USD when this is up to about 10 fps. So basically what I'm trying to say is please don't leave anyone in the dark. I think that you should post your problems, any new updates on this project, and frequent betas (like every 2 weeks or so just to make us happy). There are many skilled coders here that i am sure are more than willing to help. I know that you have a life other than the PSP, and that you don't have all the time in the world to work on it, but please at least keep us updated instead of making us lose hope like last time.

Default PSPSOne

Hey everyone,

I know everyone is very curious as to the status of the PSPSOne emulator, and also, how I'm running this on my PC. I'm using the PSPe emulator, and yes it sucks. I'm using a special build of the PSP SDK and dev chain that is more compatible with PSPe. This is the same thing that I did with PSPQuake. I did most of my development on my laptop, and then I did final testing on my PSP.

After I had it working, I just added in the very specific PSP routines that make it incompatible with the PSPe, like the functions to increase the cpu clock speed, and some sound functions.

I would appreciate any donation amounts, I've been putting in a lot of time on this project lately. Without getting too technical about the code, I can say that things are going well, All the basic instructions are being emulated, The PS1 bios can be run in the recompiler, Right now, I'm testing with a Paradox demo file, and it's loading up, running the initialization routines, and crashing during the gpu interrupts.

I'm working on the gpu code, SYSCALLS, COP0 and COP2 functions, and interrupts.

I think I'm very close to at least having the Paradox demo up and running with a recompiler. Once that happens, everyone can see the speed increase for themselves.

So it begins ...

Looks he is just in the early stages of developing this, and hasn't even finished coding parts of the emulator that will display all graphics. Please guys, be patient and asking weather "Will X game work on this?" etc, won't get you the answer you're looking for.

Not trying to snap, but i'm sure PacManFan doesn't have the time to answer questions like that anyways. Just keep giving him support in any way you can. That would be a much better use of your posts

But if I had to guess how Metal Gear Solid was running I would probably say about 1fps or not at all

Well ya, i'm sure that's the main goal, but since I can't tell the future, I don't know. But hopefully that will happen with all PSX games running on PSPSone.
