Default RPG like game Release!

This is a rpg style game that has a pacman style to it. It is still a work in progress but it is still cool. This is my first game and is sloppy but I will make it better. So far only 3 levels. Its written in lua and needs to have luaplayer to play it.

Coming soon:
Power Ups
Enemys
Other asthetics

Please Give me some input and requests and i will try as hard as i can to impliment what i feel is possible. No flaming.

Good work. Just get someone to make better art for you. Do you have any tutorials on how to make LUA code on the PSP?

I dont have a tutorial but i mentioned ps2dev in the info box. there is also a great one here in the psp homebrew dev page by whitehawk which helped me out alot with the game also. Yeah i think the art is kinda choppy but it worked ok for me and i really didn't have a problem with it. Yeah i will look into having someone else help out with gfx.

Hey, I see that your art direction is messed up(lol, that doesn't describe it) by whoever. If you need some graphics I'm intermediate in Acobe Photoshop 7 and can do Maxon Cinema 4D- in other words, 3D. I'm not saying I'm the best, but I can help you out. Shoot me an email:

Cool graphic mod for pacman. I am kinda missing the rpg element.

The original was the
Full game sample with tiles and animation

made by shine for the luaplayer tutorial section correct? Good stuff to check if your new to programming. However, Im just wondering how that would work for a rpg. From the looks of it you are using the larger tile sets which might be difficult in the long run.

Hey, not to be mean, but from the looks of it, it seems that you just stole most of the code from Shine's tutorial.

Doesn't this image from his tutorial look a little too much like yours?

At first, he mentioned that it was highly based on the tutorial in the first post but he apparently removed it when he edited it.

Basically changed the colours and BG, and drew a different happy head...you even kept the same layout to the map and plotted the same course for the points....

Good job modifying the turorial and learning....but I wouldn't tout it as an original design in any sense of the word....

Ya, I agree, but if he's throwin in an RPG element, then it's his own, I guess.

Yes this game is HEAVILY based on the tutorial but will have an rpg element coming soon. I am primarily workin on cleaning up the code and then getting the other elements in. I am coming up with a plot and levels are just coming to me in my sleep... But yeah so far it is just a remake of the tutorial. I was learning with this and i still will be. The purpose of this game was to be a learning experience and to introduce myself into the world of computer programing. I NEED people who are talented with gfx. Please feel free to post some of your work on this thread and i will consider who will help me out.

Things to come:
Battle element(i was thinking of something like pokemon with a final fantasy thing)

More advanced levels

Powerups(such as weapons healing potions etc)

save game and load functions.

This again is something for me to learn as i go. I imagine it to be a great game but i need time. I am planning on giving another demo release with atleast a glimpse of the powerups in the coming weeks. Thank you for your support!

lol. well yeah i can't wait either. Just to give you guys a heads up it may be a long time till the final actually comes out due to my other obligations. I think you have to release so many things. unless it is something like the 2.0 Eboot Loader then you get membership no matter what lol :icon_wink

Well, considering this program has been built and released in its current state (almost exactly like the Shine tutorial), it's a hard call. I would say: refine the code and once you have it do more than what the tutorial can do, then release it (in a good playable state), then yoiu might get one

yeah well thats what i was sayin and what i was origionaly thinkin but yeah. Anyway last night i got workin on it and i have the battle menu down asking if your want to attack the enemy (names yet to be..... named). the yes and no option don't work yet but i was tired and i have school in the mornin. I will be workin on the ranking values for the enemies. I have gotten someone in mind to help me out with gfx. And the graffix are really whats holdin me back right now. All in all its going to be a great game and i plan to release another demo with hopefully enemys and powerups. Don't expect a whole loet of enemy and powerup interaction just yet. The demo will again give a glimpse of how everything is going. Ill keep you guys poseted on my progress.
