Default ThrottleX 0.2 By Anonymous Tipster

ThrottleX 0.2

Download here: http://dl.qj.net/ThrottleX-0.2-Gamin.../693/catid/195
or
www.anonymoustipster.com/throttleX02.zip
This is the second release of the ThrottleX buggy racing platformer. This version comes with five new levels (17-21), with the last two being particularly mean. There are also 4 clues spread throughout the whole game (which includes <16) which tell you how to unlock a secret hidden within the game.

WARNING: IF YOU HAVE A PREVIOUS save.sav FILE, COPY IT TO ANOTHER DRIVE, INSTALL THROTTLEX 0.2, THEN COPY YOUR OLD SAVE INTO THE THROTTLEX DIRECTORY. OTHERWISE YOU WILL HAVE TO START AGAIN FROM LEVEL 1.

A few notes:
By pressing Select in-game, a screenshot will be saved to the root of the memory stick
The wheels are still square.
Thanks to NaYoN for a level idea.
Thanks to the PSP community for being supportive.

Have fun, try and find all the clues. It's worth it :icon_wink .

Note: Due to changes in the 0.9 EBOOT loader, ThrottleX needs the loader's config file to be configured for the controls to work correctly. If you are experiencing difficulties steering, then go here: Debugging strange key problems in v0.9

Have you got the save.sav and tr1.s3m in the throttleX folder?
If so, try re-downloading it, that caused problems last time.

WOw

just playing it, looks like its got a good future in it...

1 bug/problem i've had though, is that sometimes the car is upside down, but still sliding along something (i want it to) and it times out (restarts the level). Coule you please add in a mechanism to prevent it timing out, or add something in for if there is no movement? - thx

Daurn

PS, i would love to learn how to add 3D things into my projects, how do you do it?

Hmm, that's odd. It worked on the last EBOOT loader, and little more RAM has been used. What version EBOOT loader are you using? I'm pretty sure 0.8 worked fine with the original.

@daurnimator: There are several samples of 3D programming in the PSPSDK, but previous 3D knowledge does help a lot.

I wonder if it still works with 0.8. I'm pretty sure it did before, and not much has changed. If you can, try it with 0.8 and see if that makes a difference.

It works on EBOOT Loader 0.9 fine. I'm using the Choice menu though.

I used the 1.5 folders for 2.0 and it works. But the turning isn't right. It looks like it's trying to turn but the wheels are in the way or something.

Hmm. Try resetting the PSP and running the game. I haven't changed anything to do with the controls, just added more levels. Are the controls always sticky, or does it go on and off?
It seems like it's misbehaving on 2.0 PSPs, but I don't know why.

Is anyone else getting the same problem?

Unfortunately no luck there. I tried redownloading and reinstalling it too and it still has that bug. I'll try the 1.0 folder again and see if maybe that can be run somehow.

Well, I got the 1.0 folder to work but it still has that problem. I'll try it on the 0.8 loader.

Yeah t works fine on 2.00 but the controls are a bit messed up. the turing seems to either have a late response or it will try to turn the other way in which you are turning, but its a nice update, good work anonymoustipster

I tried on 2.0 and I noticed the steering issue. Then I tried it on .85 eboot loader and it worked fine. Good job on the awesome game!

It looks like it's a problem which appears with the 0.9 loader. It must 'fix' something which breaks ThrottleX. I'll update the first post with 0.8 recommended.

Yeah, sorry for the late reply. Version 0.85 of the loader works great with this. I'm gonna have to try and beat level 15 again. (Well, the one with the small hole in the wall.

P.S. Maybe another puzzle type idea could be zones that make your buggy drive at a certain speed. Maybe have a level where you have to go off a jump at full speed and land on a Finish platform. Oh and are you thinking of adding on any type of minigames on the side? Such as running over bugs in a certain amount of time? Oh and if you ever add new types of vehicles please make them unlockable lol. (Not just to start with)

Yeah, there are problems with ThrottleX and the 0.9 loader, so try using 0.85 or 0.8 and it should work fine. I'll need to speak to Fanjita about what's changed between 0.85 and 0.9 that could mess up the physics.

fanjita said it had something to do with the HOME button thing he put in. Just go to the config and change the option from 1 to 0 (or maybe its 0 to 1) and its supposed to fix it

EDIT: that was for the last version of this, but it should probobly be the same for this version

IDEA FOR NEXT VERSION:

Add a health and weapons option for a level where you need to break through something.

WOULD GO GREAT IF IT WERE MULTIPLAYER!

Oh good, I was going to ask Fanjita about the issue. Can anyone verify that this fixes the problem? If so i'll update the first post.

Nice work AnonymousTipster, maybe next version should have some updated graphics and mechanics (you can surely find some people for that; I can help).

THe controls are simply X to go and Square to reverse right?
