Red face May I introduce you my first homebrew (PSPShot) ?

Hi everyone,

At the moment, this program will only work on version 1.50 psps.

About the program:
PSPShot lets you take screenshots of all things, which your psp shows to you (eg. System OS, Video, Game, etc..).
It's still buggy and makes sometimes strange lines in the screenshots, if the background is moving too fast. I'll try to solve this problem in the next version.
The screenshots are BMPs, which will be saved under X:\PSP\PHOTO\PSPShot\

Controls:
Start: Starts the system menu in "screenshot mode"
Select: Starts the insertet UMD in "screenshot mode"

L: Enables normal movement
R: Makes a screenshot
L+R: Exit the program

If the background is moving too fast, it helps when you take more than one screenshot, so you can choose the best one. :icon_wink

I hope you like it

You can download it here!

Some of my screenshots:

Default Can this be used to...

Can the technology used here enable users to use their infra-red keyboards inside existing games / web browser...

this would help out with all the B.S. text input's we go through trying to navigate the web.

Just a thought...

That's when your intellect kicks in to 'patch' things up.

I hope you were being sarcastic there about thinking that he stated about eating lunch, quite hilarious, but nevertheless:

I think he is referring to the ability to run a program and a UMD game/navigate the XMB at the same time, thus allowing for "back-apps". An IR Keyboard client may just be able to become such a "back-app". That is what he was thinking Since this can run in the background while using the PSP, can this be used to utilize other features of the PSP?

Guys, I can translate that post for ya All it is, is the result of fast-typing mistakes.

Great job! I can't wait until it makes all the pictures without lines! How about you team up with Edison Carter (guy who created GTA cheat device) and make it take animated GIFs, too? Possible even FMVs with sound and the whole shizz-bang in the future.

Metal Gear Acid 2 is out already?

What happens when you use this program when you upgrade? Does it still run in the background?? If so, its the first homebrew on any new version.
and would you still have kernal access with PSPShot after?

Default Keyboard

Heh, my bad..I tend to rush into these things
But yea, he hit the nail on the head. I was thinking I could write a background app that receives the input from the keyboard and translates it into valid input for dialogs, hmm...wonder if we could just edit the memory address that stores the dialog's string. some things to think about, granting he shares his secrets on how he accomplished that.

Excellent work none the less. rock on

Is there a chance this could run on 2.0 at all? Or does this require kernal access?

Thats pretty damn nice!
One possible way for getting good pics every time would be to pause all the game threads, there is functionality in the pspsdk for doing this iirc.
You'll of course need to work out what threads you can pause so you dont pause yourself or anything else important
Or maybe keep a block of memory as big as the screen buffer and just do a single memcpy() of the screen accross. (Not sure how you are currently doing the screen capture, but its something to try)

Any chance of getting the source released? (Perhaps under GPL).
It would make a nice base for a general memory editor for 1.5 games and such

Nice app as for the IR-keyboard idea, anyone knows if it's possible to use the 2.0 tiff exploit to make a background thread that can run inside the browser, and translate IR-input into actual text input? Sounds really hard... I mean, one way could be to hijack the "OSD-keyboard"... I don't even know if it's possible...

anyways, keep up the good work, this is looking interesting
