Default PSPSONE, Size of compatible games!

Hi everyone,
Me and PSPHax0r9 have thought about the size of PSX games on the PSPSONE emulator that is currently being made by PacManFan, one of the greatest PSP Homebrew devs around.
This Thread is to talk about the size of the games capatible with the PSPSONE emulator(currently being created, no playable games yet, 19-01-06, or if u are in US, 01-19-06).
PLEASE NO QUESTIONS ABOUT WHERE TO FIND THIS EMULATOR, IT ISN'T RELEASED YET!!

I'll get the ball rolling:

Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back (Platinum Version) Fully G Zipped .bin file: 172MB
Final Fantasy VII: Disk One Fully G-Zipped: 517MB
Final Fantasy VIII: Demo Disk (with only movies of the game, from the FF7 Game) Fully G-Zipped : 121MB

[PLEASE DO NOT DISTRIBUTE THESE FILES]

Plz post your games sizes, you may ask the size of a game, however you may not get a response, depending on who has that game.

Some more games from the People:
Metal Gear Solid CD1 : 480MB Fully G-Zipped

"Final Fantasy VII: Disk One Fully G-Zipped: 517MB"

Oh no! Now I'll need a 1gb stick. There are other titles I'm looking forward to playing tho. Like for instance:

Alundra
Alundra 2
Breath of Fire III
Parasite Eve
Parasite Eve 2
Resident Evil
Resident Evil 2
Resident Evil 3
Xenogear
Silent Hill
Tomba!

and many more...

Great thread idea, I'm hoping this list gets real big.

I've been keeping track of PSPSONE lately due to the news that the new Beta works on 2.0, and though that's no garuntee that the final version will work on 2.0, I'd like to know if G-Zipping removes all of the cutscenes, or if those filesizes are with the cutscenes included. I've never played FF7, and if I do I'd want to be able to watch the cutscenes.

Also, a friend keeps arguing with me about how disk changing would work. Could you not just keep one disk on your memory stick until you needed to change, then go home and swap out disk one for disk two and load, or would you need to have two consecutive disks on the memory stick in order to perform the disk swap? I'd like to prove a point.

That's hard to say, and also depends on the emulator.

It really boils down to how often you have to switch discs, it's been awhile but I dont remember changing discs in ff7 too frequently...also I cant remember if you had to have disc 1 in to start the game then switch right away if you are in some area thats on a different disc, or if it all the discs had a basic starting menu on them so you could just go right into it...

Nothing is changed witht he files; they are just being compressed. Everything in the game will be the same. The only difference is decreased file size.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned it yet but has nobody thought about ripping the video and some audio out of these isos? I've never looked into it but I'd be pretty damn sure there'll be some programs to do this and they'd come in very useful for the Final Fantasy games in particular if you can live without the CGI. I wouldn't be suprised if you could fit all 3 discs of number 7 onto a 512MB card this way (after gzipping aswell) as that game has loads of CGI.

PMF wrote a short guide in one of his recent posts on how to replace all the videos with a smaller one. It seems that it could reduce the size by up to half. He also said that he might be releasing a tool to do this along with the BETA. There is a link to that post at the bottom of my guide, in my sig.

Well I've come back with something useful. The guy behind the PSX emulator for Pocket PCs has already created such a tool, and it can be found below (called PocketIso):

Cool, I thought PocketISO was just another MagicISO clone. Looks like I'll check it out now.

Thanks for searching, brain_stew. :icon_wink

EDIT: I just googled pocketiso, and i found some useful files.
http://www.pocketmatrix.com/guides/psxrip/blank_xa.rar - is a blank audio file to replace all the audio with.
http://www.pocketmatrix.com/guides/psxrip/blank_str.rar - is a blank video file to replace all the videos with.

This will be very useful, because now we don't have to just use the smallest in-game video, we can use this blank one. Same for audio.

I tryed pocketiso but whenever I try to reduce the size of an ISO I get an iso.znx file and whenever I try to rename it back to .iso It becomes unusable.

Remeber that the right analog stick cannot be utilized, along witht he L2 and R2 buttons. So choose your games wisely.

Spyro 2 = only Spyro with no L2 or R2 functions.

very important point. however i wish they would keep this in mind and at least try and give us some form of functionability, possibly using the select button to toggle from l1 to l2, r1 to r2, and the left thumbstick to the right.
