What the best type of picture you guys use for games?

PNGs and Targas are best, though these file types take up more space. GIFs are also okay in some situations, but they are limited to 256 colors. Quality of PNGs are not as lossy as JPEGs and they also have the abililty to show transparency as well as millions of colors.

PNG's are the best. They are very useful and i find them better than JPEG's.

JPEG is your standard still image, it is the most widely used of any format for images. GIF is a more advanced format that can preserve the image's exact quality or it's features(example: transparencies and animated images). I suggest PNG or TARGA for games though. My reason mainly for me is because they are smaller in size(e.g. JPEG might be 1 mb but PNG will but 50 kb) but that is not always the case. If you want the most used format for games it would be PNG and then TARGA(well they are about the same but I've seen more PNGs than TARGAs). Maybe it is because they interact with the game enviroment mush easier?
