Bit too tired to write anything much, but here goes.

Webnab is now a proper rss/atom feed reader.
You can add in your own feeds and stuff.
It is the awesome.
Get it now.
New screenshots on the site.

I played with the curl stuff a little, so if a 2.00 user (and anja ) could try it now and see if it goes (and how far it gets if it doesn't).
If it still doesn't work I'll upgrade to 2.00 in the weekend and have a hack at it.

If you have a feed that doesn't work properly post in here or pm me it and I'll have a look.
Also, any recommendations of feeds to add in as defaults in the next version will be considered
Danzel. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

README:
Danzel you have done such a fantastic job on this and I am so excited new programs come out everday on 2.6 that guy like you can crank them out on 1.5 and hell half of the time they are way more customizeable.

I do however have one request and its not a huge one. I dont even know its possible, would there be a way for you to enable the USB interface on execute just always on, or possibly a toggle on/off switch and I ask for this because i seem to find more feeds here and there I would like to add but I must first exit the program go into USB reupload the file start back up WAB and then go to my Feeds.

I love this program. My question is why not web? You have done such a damn fine job with RSS, and I realize the complication in web, but man you are an excellent programer.

Well let me know about the USB being possible or not.

ONE last thing.

Could you make the left trigger <back> and the right trigger <forward>

Thanks a million man

you are a genious 10x over.

thanks

@phrentic - you have some good ideas there, I'll look at adding them in.
I definately want to fix the bug where once you've lost your wifi connection you cant reconnect.

Why not a full web browser? Because writing a web-browser from scratch is an insane job, there is enough browsers out there (on pc) that you're much better off porting one (Not to say anything bad about the 1.5 web browser crew, they seem to be doing quite well) but its a very difficult job, and I wanted to code something I might one day finish
I do plan to add in image viewing/downloading and mp3 streaming/downloading, so it'll be like a very limited browser, powered by rss feeds

@Anja - im going to dedicate all my psp programming this weekend (3 days, w00t) to tracking down that bug and hopefully fixing it

Stupid question, but with your knowledge of connections, would you like to join the PSP-MMO project? You would be of great help, danzel.

Yeah, that one little bug is annoying. Seriously man. I use this everyday. This is the best homebrew on 1.5 to day... minus the 2.0 to 1.5 downgrader. I love looking at my rss feeds on here.. I walk into almost any place with wifi and know if i need to get to a computer quickly for a good techdeal bargain :P I recommend it to everyone. Beautiful interface to.

I understand the complexity of the WWW browser. Someone needs to port Mozilla portable. I know there is a USB drive version of it somewhere maybe that would work. Honestly most people arent that interested in WWW on PSP which doesnt really make sense to me but what do I know. I wish I knew how to program I would start porting things over myself.

@sNiFFeR
So you chose a feed, it says 'Downloading Feed' and then does nothing more?
Does your psp power off or does it just sit there?
What feed? all of them?

danzel: Thank you for this great program. One irk with the Wipeout Browser and PSPUpdates is they aren't compatible. The site is too intense for it. Thanks to you I can now check up on developments on the go.

The only trouble with connections that I experienced was connecting to your blog. I forget the exact words, but it locked up (requiring system shutoff and restart) right at the initial handshake (text onscreen that normally appears after select and X).

Love it! I can't wait for further functionality (particularly the lost connection issue).
Keep it up. I'll use it 'til there's no longer a need for it (could take a while ;^)

@sNiFFeR - what exactly is the message log from 'Downloading feed'? Will make it a bit easier to debug I don't need to know the exact amount of dots though, lol.

@DrNicket - woot, thanks I'll add something in for when it fails to connect to a site, just realized that it did that... its a bit dumb really.
The next version will focus on getting the program alot more usable (incorporating some of phrenetics suggestions etc).

All the presets worked for me (except for the blog).
I haven't tried custom feeds yet (honestly I'm still a virgin with RSS. WEBNAB cheats it for me, but I still need to learn about it).

Anja: Sorry to hear you're still having trouble. Since we're both on 1.5, I myself can't think of any coding reason for you to be having a problem and me not to. Perhaps a conflict with something else that's installed? (Going out on a limb to be sure, but experience tells us something is monkeying around with WEBNAB).

Keep at it danzel and good luck Anja.

Thanks for the output everyone, I'll have a look into the resolving stuff tonight, does dns resolving work in any other homebrew?
examples: peldet, connect to ascii starwars. or pspradio and connect to any of the normal shoutcast streams.
Thanks.

Well, it works for me and I have a 2.00 psp. I made sure I did the wifi trick before though. All the feeds work for me also.

edit:This is a great app by the way!

fantastic application - means i can read my sites around home without lugging my (very hot) powerbook around.

as a rss noob tho, are there plans to allow you to read the comments to the stories? engadget and pspupdates (amongst others) have user posted comments for each story - are these accessable through rss or do you still have to visit the site?

love the app - keep up the brilliant work!

(1.5 downgraded from 2, all feeds seem to work)

@koven - what does it show when you chose a custom feed?
They work the same as the pspupdates one, so it should work, assuming you added them to the feeds.txt correctly .
Gimme the message log thanks.

@davebach172 - I haven't seen any sites that have rss feeds with the comments in them too, but I do plan to allow you to read the coments on pspupdates

Just the other day, I got word from Clay that PSPUpdates' comment system is going off Blogger. Soon. I think it's going to be internal now. You may wish to speak with him about it if you haven't already.

But when I downloaded it was like 'http......[]rss name' ([]-strange square)
When I start downloading feeds I get "Topics to read:" with no topic, and when i press anything I get a blue screen with error msg

@anja - try the wifi forum, make sure you post enough information though.

@DrNicket - alright, I'll wait a bit before doing anything there then.

@Koven - Are you using a non-english version of windows/linux?
With the default favorites file can you view the included ones in the custom list?
Make sure you are saving it as a plain ascii file, and not unicode or anything.

Definately coming, I'd quite like that feature too

You can 'sorta' do it now, if you go into each of the feeds and load them it caches them in memory, so you could manually go through them all and then read them at your leasure (if you don't turn your psp off).
But yeah, a proper way to do it will come in the future.

Yep, I'm using Polish WinXp, it's plain ascii fille and the orginal feeds work. When I add my feeds to the oryginal file it stays the same (doesn't work)
