Default Toolchain/SDK Tutorial for Linux?

Hi Guys,
Does anyone know if there's a tutorial for setting up the development environment
under linux op system? Or is it so easy it wouldn't be worth it?

I have the toolchain script running successfully now, but an easier setup to
replicate might be a good excuse to set up linux on an old machine
specificaly for PSP programming...
Any comments from Linux users?
Cheers, Art.

Setting up the SDK is very very simple...

If you understand what Cygwin is, it's pretty much a port of the most significant tools running on most Lin/*nix systems.

Therefore, Yeldarb's tutorial should work equally well on Linux or Windows, and the first tutorial is about getting the environment set up.

The only little added challenge is that USB drives (by default) aren't as plug and play as they are in Windows.

Also, usage of the forum's search tool would probably be a good idea, as there was a thread not a week back (it descended into X distro is better than Y distro lol, but the answer was still there)

well, its a lot more simpler.
secondly, you cant write a guide because in every distro, little bit is different. for example, in gentoo, you have to type emerge foo to install foo, in ubuntu/debian you have to type apt-get foo or something like that (never used a deb based distro), but i think you get my point...

other than that, theres nothing much to it, just download the toolchain, and run it..if it gives you a svn/subversion error, you need to install subversion first...if youre installing something like fedora core, just select the developer stuff in there. that should be enough

I did keep up with that thread, but can't find it now.
Does the toolshain.sh script run faster under a real Linux system
that has lower specs (ie. 250MHz - 350MHz), than it takes to
complete on a modern Windows PC?

I don't have a Linux PC setup, but I could get a cheap low spec PC to use.

i adapted the current programming tutorials so they are specifically for linux, such as gentoo, freebsd, ubuntu and debian.
