I think you'd need to download the required things then grab pspsdk from here (building it from scratch):

Cygwin is just a Linux emulator for Windows.

Where the instructions talk about Cygwin setup, just make sure that you have the RPMs it describes installed in your Linux distro.

From there on in, so long as you installed the prerequisites, then you should be able to continue as per the instructions.

Im also having a problem building the PSPSDK on linux(/ubuntu). I have installed all the required packages n stuff, but i keep getting an svn connection refused error. I've already installed it on my home computer, but i want to install it over at school, cus of my programming class, and being able to compile code over there. Is there any, ANY, posible way to get svn to use the school's proxy? I've checked everywere, and came up with zilch.

I assume you do svn co <whatever> to get the pspsdk files. You can either try again, or get the source codes from somewhere else, other than the SVN server 'repo' .

ya something like that, but it's in the toolchain script that does it.
