Default [PLEASE READ] FD-Network?

I really hope that Fanjita / Dietlew / Mods read this...

Im quite skilled in VB.NET ... I know its not the best coding Language... but whatever...

Im thinking about creating a Tool like PSP Action Replay...

Its a Tool where you can browse through a Category List and download Savegames, ect. that you want... and install it directly to the PSP... :-)

Im thinking about doing the same Thing for Fanjita & Dietlew's eLoader Project...

Not only having a Up 2 Date Compatiblity List... but a Tool where you can check for latest homebrew and Download & Install it directly to the PSP with a simple Click!

Im asking here because, I dont wanna do this Project if noone is interested...

Also, I wish for Support from Fanjita & Co... and maybe, if possible, from QJ.NET... :-)

We will need a relyable Host for those Packages, of course, If I do such a Thing, and get Support from QJ, Fanjita, Dietlew, whomever...

The Peaple over here need to continue their Tests... Best also would be if Fanjita added a Firmware Tab on his Compatiblity List... So only WORKING software will be on this Network... :-)

Also... Im thinking about a simple "Report Non-Working Homebrew" Button... so we could sort non-working Homebrews (maybe after eLoader Updates) out easily...

I hope this Thread wont end in a "Flamewar" or something...

Greetz, Ryu

That would be a very useful app. Im a 1.5er myself but im sure it would be incredably helpful to those entering the scene.

Good to hear Peaple have Interest at all... What Im wishing for thought is a Feedback from Fanjita & Co... I myself can code this App... But Its hard finding a relyable Host for the Packages...

I actually thought of it as a Official Sub-Project for qj.net... like dl.qj.net... :-)

But for Fanjitas eLoader Scene... Then again, once I finished the Tool, I of course wouldnt mind doing a own Web-Setup so 1.5 User can connect to their own Network too... :-/

@ Chaosking : The PSP AR Tool is for free Download... but you can only DOWNLOAD Savegames... but not upload your own... for this you would need to buy a PSP AR Package, which contains a Serial...

If it happens or not, depends on wether I get supported by qj, fanjita, ect.

I need a - probably big - relyable host, for all the files, and the some php scripts that i will have to place... :-/

The idea is great.

It would boost the homebrew scene!

Wish you good luck man.

Speaking from experience, the kind of program youre talking about would not be easy at all to do.

I dont want to be the one to ruin it, but have you thought about all the detail youll have 2 put in to it?

I dont mean this wrong, but i think that you would start all eager and ready, but as you get into the nitty gritty bits of the code, youll delay and get bored, and eventually not finish...

Not to mention how OFTEN it would need updating...

This also gives me ENOUGH experience on both : how to do it and how much work it needs...

But Im happy that you all seem quite interested in it... :-)

Hope Fanj~ Dit~ ect~ will take a look into this...

Just start working on it, and post your progress, you will start to get watched, and people will take interest it. You shouldnt expect everyone to support you right away without showing anything up front. That way you prove your commited. :icon_wink

Sounds really good, I wish you luck with this project, although, how do you propose making it? I don't think it will look good in lua.

Its a Windows Application to Automatically check for Homebrew that works on ur PSP and installs it for you on it...

Writing to the PSP is no Problem once its connected to USB... :-)

:-)

BTW Novan... do you REALLY mean - what is written in ur sig..?

Yes. They are charging me $200 to replace my broken psp with a refurbished one. The only problem was that it stopped reading disks (dont know why). So my friend who works at Gamestop sold me a PSP they got with a broken screen for $40. I am going to fix it myself. (Oh, and they are charging me for shipping BOTH ways.)

Yup under warrenty, I actually just got it back from sony because the screen stopped working. After two weeks the disks stopped reading. Im just having bad luck. (And they charged my $125 to fix the screen because they thought it was damaged by me, so I paid because it was cheaper than buying a new one)

I think its a great idea. I don't know about it being all THAT hard to do. He may just be able to do it in LUA or something simple and make it like a URL2PSP mod that he just updates an xml listing file on the server that contains all the preextracted homebrew that you would choose from the xml list to download to the directory specified. Thats what common sense says to me anyway. I would love to see this!

Yes, it would be a windows XP app. You would start the program and it would connect to a server with a list of apps. It would then list the files and you would select which ones you want and it would install them.

Here is my example of what the app would look like (forgive the lack of user friendliness, it took me 5 minutes to do)

But you see, I think a program on the PSP would be even cooler. That way, lets say your not on your computer, or maybe somewhere else on a trip and you have wifi access, you can download programs.

I can see a lot of potential in this, and if you get it working, it will be very popular.

However, it would require a lot of upkeeping. Every time a program comes out, you would have to put it on the server.

That kind of psp program (whether it be made in C\C++, Lua, or Python) would take a lot longer to create than an application made in VB for windows.

Also, i do have an idea that would reduce the constant update of the program to accomidate new programs.
There would be a few files on the server that holds a few things: program name, program version, firmwares it can be used on, date added, url to the file, url to an icon, and url to find more info bout it. There would be separet data files for different program catagories like: application, games, etc. The program catagories would also have sub-catagories such as: EBOOT, Lua, etc. The program would access these files, orginize the programs and would be able to use the url's to download the files that the user requests. To keep the data files up-to-date, the administrator (i.e. Novan) and a few TRUSTED people, could access a php page on the server to add/remove/update programs that the data files store info and other stuff about. This method could definetly reduce the effort to keep updating the program just to add new programs due to the data being (I think) hard coded into the program, because the data of programs for the psp is stored on the server.

It wouldnt be hard. Just set up a PHP file on a server that spits back code that the program can sort. Then it would display the information, and you could choose what you want to download. The PHP file would do everything... get the directory listing, sort out the screenshots, then it would send it to the PSP.

Even though a windows VB program might be easier, I think a PSP program would be cooler. (Then again, Ive never programmed internet apps in VB...)

By using php, the pc app can download the psp programs and install it to the psp. Also, if the pc app uses php then a psp program can be made to do the samething but on the go (if near a wifi access point and is granted access).

Yes, thats what I basically was thinking. I was also thinking of having a browser addition that would allow a person that created a psp program that is on the list create a url that would automatically start my app and install the program on the psp. For example the creator would put a link to psp://doompsp and when an user clicks the link it would install the app instantly. It would look at the list, find the doompsp app and install it. Simple and easy.

simple and easy in sudo-code, hard and complicated in C\C++ code.
Plus there would have to be a check to see if the space on the memstick is sufficient.
