...that I had a "secret message" or "secret code" all worked out that would be perfect for chatting privately. Or at least making onlookers take a nice amount of time to decode. Since my coding skills are nowhere near .. even being able to be called skills, I've decided to just post up my "secret message" decoder. I have to say, its really quite complicated, if I do say so myself. Even with this decoder at hand, it WILL take a WHILE to code/decode a full message. a friend of mine at school and i used this, but DAMN, it took too long to decipher. it was way too time-consuming, but the teacher never knew what the messages said when she caught us! :mrgreen:

the last # is which letter of the number on the phone take that letter and match it with the corresponding reverse letter on the alphabet

How to find the encryption technique:
I didn't even use the domino's idea when I decrypted the message myself. I figured this out by doing some common sense I guess you could call it. I examined the ending numbers of the code first. These numbers ranged from 1 to 3. I assumed that the number before the last number of a line was insignificant because it was always 1 or 0. When you look at the phone diagram, you notice that there are three letters per key, thus giving you the last numbers. The hardest part was finding out what the 0's and 1's were about. Upon examinig everything I found that the 1's did not represent number quanities as it would be too great. There was one letter in the code that did not use a 1, thus making me to assume that it is not a necessary part of the code, thus a common placeholder to throw off the decrypter. The last bit was the 0's. I counted them and they ranged from 3 to 9, and since the maximum ammount given was 9, I assumed that the range had to end at 9, and looking at the given data, the phone's number keys end with a 9 in the diagram. So, you have the last numbers showing up as the letter on a key, and the number of zeros on the line as the key number (raning from 1-9 on a phone). Then, I asked myself..why did he include the alphabet in the other direction? So, I took the letter I got, applied it to the alphabet to see if the first two lines would start with some word, and it did: "CO", so then you apply the rest and you get a result! |

The letters at the very top of the decoder are the letters you want to use for your message. lets say your message is "Hi", for time reasons, i'm using a short example. ok now, the letters "H" and "I" are now turned into "S" and "R". so far, so good, but its been simple until now so pay attention. the numbers dictate which of the 9 # sets you will use to represent EACH letter of your message. ok? so... let me show how it would go: HI || vv SR __1______2_____3 __abc___def___ghi __4______5_____6 __jkL____mno___pqR----->see where the letters are? __7______8_____9 _stu____vwx____yz all right, now the numbers that the letters are associated with (the letters are in Bold) are what say how many "0"s there are gonna be in the case of the # 6, you take 6 zeros 000000 and finish off the 9 # set with "1"s, so you get 000000111--->9 digits! but wait! the final code has 10 numbers! that tenth number represents which LETTER of the number in the "phone formation" is used. since "R" is the letter used, it would be the 3rd letter of that number. (going from left to right). so you "3" to your 9 # set, and there you go! you have coded ONE LETTER! the final code for "Hi" should look like this: 0000001113-->H 0000000111-->i get it now?
