Default any other n00bs

i was wondering if anyone else found it daunting when you first start out making homebrew for the psp. i would not call myself a script kiddie but i am definately new to the scene. i have been coding in LUA for the past few days and i am quite good at it and i already know a little bit of C++. it is just all the tools and stuff out there that seem scary to me. i just don't want to break my computer (which i have done many times) doing the toolchain thing as i run on windows and was going to do it cygwin. it may sound stupid but i was just wondering if anyone was in the same situation as me. thanks alot!

I Dont know if this is the right section! but
i may aswell post anyways.
C++ and lua are completley different,
but in alot of case's they can also be completley
the same. Installing the Cygwin was very hard for
me cause of cmd giving me a hard time and freezing
halfway through installing. But i have never encountered
a problem (Like PC Virus's etc..)

Starting out with this kind of stuff is always daunting, and if you're not used to industrial coding then there can be a lot to learn with the PSP dev environment.

But stick with it, you'll pick it up soon enough.

wth ? dude, nobody, apart from a few people like fanjita, are hacking anything.
get over it. youre not in some uber 1337 psp h4xx1ing scene. you might be good around your friends, but in here, you have to eat a lot of humble pie

about cygwin, well it wont break anything. and about programming, everyone finds it daunting at first. you just have to get thru it

LMAO o my god.... I loveyou, thats hilarious.... "youre not in some uber 1337 psp h4xx1ng scene" LMAO

Master Skake - LUA has just as many / if not the same sometimes, errors as anyother programming language. Java sucks dirt with all the syntax, HTML makes my eyes hurt, LUA makes me feel like im cheating when programming (same with Visual Studis.net), Python scares me after looking through some examples, C / C++ is jjjjuuuussssttttt right

They all have errors, its your coding that will make those errors or not.

But i must say, PC complying is much better then PSP running, since on your PC, just type make (kxploit if on 1.5), then itll spit out the errors if any, or the EBOOT(s) if no 'errors', but the portability of LUA and coding is better then then PC complying / coding.

umm i dont think he was trying to make himself out to be something, just stating that he has some programming experience and that hes not a script kiddie and hes new to the psp scene. no where in there do i see anything about being an uber l33t p\/\/nZ0r h4x0r or anything of the like. someone else needs to eat a lil bit of some calm the hell down pie lol :icon_wink

the terms script kiddie/scene dont apply here...
that was my point...
this whole place isnt some hacking/cracking group...
simple people learn how to make simple programs for their simple handheld. thats what this place is.
