OK, we love ideas for homebrew games, they are great. Only one problem though, posting an idea is like requesting it to be made for you. As you should know requests are against the rules, so that boots giving ideas for homebrew out the window. Second, people that post asking for people to join a development team, just please don't post. What you really mean when you post a call for a team is "I can't make my elaborate idea come to life and I need someone else to do it for me!" Again, that looks a whole lot like a request. So, please don't do that.
This is what you need to do. First off learn to code a bit, get a working demo or something with your friends (I hope you have some) release that demo and then ask for people to help you out with it. This is basically the same for a request to a dev team. If you cannot code, or really don't want to, wait till someone releases a demo like this and asks for a team. Post or PM them that you would like to join. You can then learn from that experiance. Once people know what you can do they will have much more respect for you. After you earn that bit of respect, you can ask for a dev team (because they know you are legit) and then work on YOUR idea. I hope this will help lower the amount of development team requests and people posting ideas, claiming that they were not requests. Flame all you like, doesn't bother me a bit, I see it as constructive critism. Last edited by Ravine; 03-14-2006 at 05:05 PM.. |

there is a rule of no requests in the forum.... it annoys most devs and by saying "OK, we love ideas for homebrew games," you are encouraging n00bs to be like "port hl2 please!!!!1!!!oneone!!!1! "
truth is that most of us like suggestions but when we get 20000 requests its really annoying and makes some of us want to quit the scene |
