Default RELEASE: 3D Character Animation library

Here's my first release of psp software. It's a port of cal3D and a custom 3D demo of the cally skeleton model for the psp. I've tested it under 1.5 and everything works fine. It _should_ work under 2.x since I'm only using pspgl and freetype with no net/usb/kernel access - so please let me know. Here's a screenshot:

Get the demo from here: http://207.210.78.49/cal3D-RC1.zip

More info in the ps2dev.org forums.

Wow! Too bad stick dance doesn't look like this.

Do you use the Media Engine for this?

Nice release, maybe you can team up with greenskull to make a 3d dance game?

Yes and no. You can blend multiple skeleton animations together. ie. have a main walking animation, then blend in a limp animation and a wave animation. Press the 'triangle' button to see the skeletion which the meshes are attached to. As that skeleton moves, the polys are 'dragged' along with it.

My goal over the next couple of month or so is to get 6-10 3d animated charactes on screen at once ( at various levels of lod of course ). I'll be commiting all the code and changes to pspdev's svn repository sometime next week. So, any patches will be welcome! However, I've heard it works on 2.0 but not anything higher - so I'd like to track down the cause of that first.

Features I'll be adding soon are: PSP's hardware skinning, better native vertex support and use of gu matrix routines ( still need to investigate the last one )

I'll have to see if Fanjita has written any docs on what to avoid code wise for running on 2.x+ firmwares. Any pointers?

Woah this is nice ginka. By the looks of the post in this thread, your program is underrated :icon_mad: . More people should talk about this.

Probably, we might even be able to use this for MMORPG's,RPG's,RTS's,or FPS's.
This would definitly make 3d character games easier.
