Same dir on flash0:/ as the background images for months.Zitat:

btw art, the resolution of the name_plate.png doesnt have to be a specific size as earlier mentioned by Freeplay, that was when we were still twiddling around with it, it can be anything up to the full 480x272 as long as it's 8bit png and not 24bit.
The best way to edit the image to work well is in imageready (grab a demo guys?), and drop the image from 24bit to 8bit, then adjust the settings to suit, just as you would with converting a jpg to gif.
I used a 32bit(I think?) png, and it worked fine?
http://img291.imageshack.us/img291/3...nd11lh5.th.png
where is that feature located? i kinda didnt search...
I thought I might as well make ppl use 480x272 because anything smaller could be cropped to fit.
Most ppl would use a full screen pic anyway.
I got by with a 24 bit picture...
Maybe the limitation is in the actual number of colours used in the pic?
I haven't tried a png that didn't work yet, no matter what png format..
I need help, I remember long ago I used xflash 9c to disable network update, ever since that, I can't use the newer versions, it makes a blue background and it sais "you get the boot see ya!" WHAT THE HELL IS THAT SUPPOSED TO MEAN???? please help
I'm just stopping by to say you are teh r0x0rZ and you need to join the irc more often ;)Zitat:

Run a 1.50 update to get a fresh 1.50 and re-apply all your customisations then - that's how I do it when a new major release of XFlash comes out :DZitat:
Zitat von sniperfromhell
I think XFlash checks the index.dat to get the FW version, and that might be altered by some FW spoof in a way that XFlash doesn't recognize....
(I also get the boot when I have flashed a 1.00 index.dat to perform above mentioned 1.50 "update" over an existing 1.50 ;))
Is there any way we can change "Sony Computer Entertainment" in the intro screen to our own custom text instead of just removing it? It would be cool, and provide some extra security if your PSP is stolen and you accuse someone :)
"yourname's PSP"
PLease let me know what to do. If its too much to throw in this thread, PM or email me please. I know hwo to hex edit, so you wont need to guide me or anything, just tell me what to change. thanks\Zitat:
Zitat von Mister Chief
and its named "Name_plate.png"? Im testing in devhook now anyway. What are the other 2 named so I can try those too?Zitat:
Zitat von Fluff
I have the 1337 spoof which would make xflash read version 3.37 and I dont get the boot.Zitat:
Zitat von Hellcat
Just liek the "PSP" text over the gameboot, it is some unknown format. Its not liek a PNG or anything. So no, we cant change it unless someone finds a way to convert like they did with the fonts ro somethingZitat:
Zitat von Atarian
That was explained earlier....
Is there a problem with uploading to the forum, or is it only me?
I had to rapidshare it again.
I'm looking for feedback on this style of interface. It's not too late to get rid of it,
or possibly even make it optional.

Sorry RaiderX, I was replying to the :
"Is there any way we can change "Sony Computer Entertainment" in the intro screen to our own custom text instead of just removing it? It would be cool, and provide some extra security if your PSP is stolen and you accuse someone
"yourname's PSP""
ok no probs.Zitat:
Zitat von Art
Well I put the name_plate.png in the resource folder for my 2.71 dump and instead of loading the image, it loads a blank white screen and continues with the other screens. Its strange because I used the same image with xflash and its 8-bit.
I Will Try The New Looking Interface Now, I'll Get Back With You Here In A Minute :)Zitat:
Zitat von Art
The Xflash interface? I love it. the ASCII art makes it very unique. and the color themes are fun too :PZitat:
Zitat von Art
Ok, well apparently, a 480x272 image wont work with devhook. I resized the image down to 50% and then it showed. So, im not sure why that happens, but thats what I got. If anyone coudl test this also and let me know, I wodul appreciate itZitat:
Zitat von RaiderX
Got msn raiderX?
LOL, I like the hand gesture, Its a nice touch ;)
yes I do. I sent you a PM.Zitat:
Zitat von Mister Chief
Rofl, its MASTER HAND!!!
Great job art, i like it.
You should make it wave when you quit xflash. :P
|_ Or when verifies fail, "Bye bye... wont be seeing you again!"
I got my configurator for CASUAL working, thanks to danzel!
If only I could attack him without breaking my PSP screen...Zitat:
Zitat von LordSturm
lol, that wodul be pretty funny. Tahts about when Id really wanna attack him! :P
Lol you so fast, mabye you attack him everytime you flash something, then eventually it dies and u cant use xflash no more. :( *sob*
Also i edited the post a bit, read it again, or re-quote it again...
Acually, I got like 3 verify fails a couple times, I cant remember what I was flashing, but whatever it was, it still flashed it. and my PSP's fine.
I am sorry, but I tried it and now my PSP looks sexy! :D

Oh noez, teh hand is picking its nose...
Art, will your program recgonize any other name_plate.png's other than your own?
And will it allow you to remove a foreign name_plate.png ?
Because my mod flashes a name_plate.png, which declares the psp is modded, and gives boot infomation...
:P thx
you mean the oen that says "PSP modded by Flashmod v0.2"? Yea, since he used the same code they used, its still in there. They edited another file to get that in there.Zitat:
Zitat von LordSturm
No, im talking about one i made... (<_< )
But it uses the methods spoken about by Art, so i assume ur telling me it wont cause a problem? - Nice.
I'll make sure to tell people to unflash the xflash nameplate before installing my mod, then replace it if they want.
But i need to know, if you flash a file, but theres a file already there, does it overwrite, or complain it cant flash... ?
Double Post Merge
I made another plate, but i cant convert to 8bit, how do i convert to 8bit?
- I tried with 24 bit and it worked, i used black and white... :P
But thats in devhook, according to Art, it works with 24bit when u use black and white, so ima gunna risk flashing it manually... :P
Cya
If your PSP about screen says that it's because Flashmod put it there.Zitat:
you mean the oen that says "PSP modded by Flashmod v0.2"? Yea, since he used the same code they used, its still in there. They edited another file to get that in there.
X-Flash certainly didn't, and I certainly didn't.
Yerp i know, but my CASUAL CustomFW v2 places a nameplate aswell, i just wanted to know if flashing files can overwite, of if u have to remove before overwritng, because people with previous nameplates could pose a problem... :(
Anyway, my nameplate actually has useful infomation in relation to the mod, im sure you will love it Art!
In all my flashing app's (like ThemePSP) I overwrite allready existing files, just as you overwrite the vshmain.prx when you install a custom FW. So yes, overwriting a flash file works just fineZitat:
Zitat von LordSturm
Well vshmain.prx isnt exactly overwritten, its deleted then written to, i don't know why, but i addopted this method myself.
Also will deleting things that dont exist, bring problems?
Like if someone took away my nameplate then tried uninstalling the mod?
I don't think there's a problem deleting something that doesn't exist.
Try it with a memory card.
You could check for the file before reading or writing to be sure.
Meh my mod works but i made the stupidest mistake, theres a part that stops autobooting after a certain session, but i took it out GRRR!
Ill fix it tommorow.
hmm, I never noticed :P sorry botu that. I used flashmod once, but only cuz of a POC mod that came out that used an edited flashmod to flash the vshmain.prx.Zitat:
Zitat von Art
Damn, i dont want this stupid flashmod crap there :/ Its liek those dumb links they throw in those myspace code generators... but you cant remove this one so easily...
and again, sorry Art, I never noticed the flashmod screen though. I only assumed, which apparently I shouldnt do :p
so is there any way to remove the flashmod thing and overlay the name plate thing?
So is it possible to edit the other screens? I wanna replace those with some information! ;) Also, can someone edit that fantastic nintendo ds thing, to show the logo for the nintendo ds lite. Thanks!
There is a thread about it here.
The PSP is a lot more picky about the other screens:
http://forums.qj.net/showthread.php?...highlight=pngs
Art in that thread you said it is possible to make icons.
Have you managed to make any yet?
Yea, I was gonna check that program out myself, but the attachment is invalid nwo I guess and I cant download it. I wouldnt mind making my won icons. What program wodul you suggest for saving RAW bitmaps? Ive noticed photoshop has a RAW output option, but Im not sure if thats the proper format.Zitat:
Zitat von Mister Chief
At that point I had only looked at unencrypted firmware files,
and thought that all firmware files were unencrypted.
I also assumed the icons were bitmaps. They probably are,
but if they are contained in an encrypted file it doesn't help.
ps.. new release today, with a few small improvements :)
