the same coldboot in this release?
any of the modified files changed?
Plenty of change in the way it works. Just not obvious until you use it.
Some error checking was also important since some people around the world
are going to find ways to brick PSPs:
unbrick a psp?
This release would have prevented that from happening since the font and bitmaps are checked.
The shadow.pgf file he wrote isn't a font, it's a file full of zeros.
If this release finds inconsistencies like that, the user gets "The Boot" (right out of the program).
You can see this happen by simply deleting the pictures or fonts out of one of the program's folders.
The name menu 'Disabled' doesn't work on my french PSP and the option number 7 doesn't work too
But I love this app
Actually this program is three weeks old. I think that's pretty good.
Both of those functions would assume you are using English language. The name menu 'Disabled' doesn't work on my french PSP and the option number 7 doesn't work too
But I love this app
I might get to fixing it in at least French and German.
You can check the labels in English if you want to check it worked.
Yes it works when my PSP is in english
Good luck and continue like that ^^
I didnt read the page before this but did you make any changes to the secret function. Because I inserted the song.mp3 to the flash but my psp gets a little buggy and i want it out. The only thing that is buggy is sometimes the words come up on the screen saying cannot read disc and it says press O i do but nothing happens. I can still move around the XMB though
How big is the mp3? Like it says on the screen I haven't tested any greater than 3.66 Mb.
The only change was moving the debug info to the proper area of the screen.
Make a zero byte file with notepad called Song.mp3 and replace it with that.

great program art, can you tell me how to edit the error sound , no disrespect, just wanted to try some other sounds, i already used pspmenuedit to get my own bootsound back, just not sure about the error sound. Realy nice to get rid of the sony logo, maybe in the future this could be a stand alone option, again no disrespect the startup sound wasn't to my taste, and to lose the sony logo you must take your startup sound. Anyway all round fantastic program. OK im getting carried away , is there anyway to change the boot text?
hey art... any possibility to disable the format memory stick feature??.... just an idea....
Probably is possible... working on other areas at the moment, but good idea.hey art... any possibility to disable the format memory stick feature??.... just an idea....
I don't think so, at least not easily.is there anyway to change the boot text?
As for the sound I have got a template working for the "Apply XMB Error Sound"
feature that is capable of swapping out various sound files (I only have two at the
moment though). I started with that because there is more to do with the opening_plugin
file than just change sounds.
A bug is fixed for startup file checking feature. the current version is only checking one
file of every type, and then not checking any more. I will release an early version mainly
to fix this.
sweet... art said i have a good idea.... anyway... it isn't that difficult to load your own sound for the opening plugin... as i've said before... i use the windows xp logon sound... all i did was find it in the windows directory, and edit it to a .vag file, load it to the opening plugin and i've been using it for a long time now.... ever since psp set had compatibility for that, but that prog wasnt able to disable the text and lines from the opening plugin.... upper hand goes to Art... :)

Hmmm. I got all these great mods on ym PSP now, only thing I could as for is it says that the waves get removed when you remove the "Sony Computer Entertainment" thing. Well if thta coudl be removed but keeping the waves, that would b awesome! or even better, fi there was a way to change teh words to whatever you waneted, maybe from what is typed into a TXT file on the mem stick! Thta would be awesome, It could say "W311c0m3 1337 H4x0r" lol
another thign that ive wondered since the first method tio change the gameboot came out. You know that thing that says "About PSP" and then it plays that little video saying a buncha useless crap? I assume that that video is .PMF also, maybe not tho, but it would be cool if we could change that movie soemthing cool for the hell of it, and then change "About PSP" to something like "1337 Shyt" Not the most useful mod, but if its possible, it would be cool
Oh and I couldnt thank you enough for your great program!! Its coders like you that keep the PSP community fun!!
That is possible, those screens are two png files, not a movie.
The waves in the intro will eventualy turn off with the button that turns off the
wave effect.... getting there.
Early release within the hour... V7e.
* Fixed startup file checking
* Added sideways scrolling to select one of three alternate error sounds
* Added colour selector (doesn't save colour preference yet)
How long can the error sound be?
Should it be in vag?
I'll convert some for you if you want.
20272 bytes maximum for the error sound (sound effect 13).
It would be better to look at other sounds, like select and cancel for other sounds
to change. You don't hear the error sound much with normal use of the PSP.
The full toilet flush sound could fit, but I cut it in half to test padding of the file,
since shorter sounds like "Doh!" have to be padded with zeros.
I'll try think of some new mods you might be able to implement easily.
On last thing is it at all possible to change the xmb icons?
for music video etc?
Or are the in some unknown encrypted format?
Wow! Another update already O_O
My respects to Art! *thumbsup*
/me updates his website to current X-Flash release :)
Art, what would happen to the "Disabled" label on the Network Update if I also changed Game to Apps? Aren't they both using the same file?
Yes they are both using the same file but it works like magic now :) one label won't affect the other.
That's the right question.. that's how the whole thing can work with a bit more

art, how do you unpack the files to find the error sound etc, or is it just hex editing, am i way out of my depth?
Thanks for this great flash program. Just one question, is there anyway to disable the umd update just like the network update. Thanks for all of your time and this great program.
Maybe also blocking the umd from autostarting?
this post is for that frosty guy
that couldent load his .iso files
i dont want to get into too much detail about the subject because of the forum rules but...
i have just started having the same problem with a few games
tales of eternia and legend of heroes
only when i try loading a save or saving my game
i found they work fine when you use the mph loader instead of thier usual methods
Frosty said he fixed the problem when he replaced the font.
If there is ever any repeatable error that can be found I will fix it,
but at the moment, when all options are restored to original and then
firmware is dumped, it all verifies correct against original 1.50 firmware.
Have almost completed option to change boot opening sounds with option
to apply any vag file supplied by the user.
It should be possible to implement this without any possibility of bricking since
the vag file header and footer can remain intact on the PSP, and only the data in between changed.
It appears that the boot opening sound is stereo, but I'm only using duplicate mono replacement.

im just pointing out that if you use the mph method
(which uses the default psp font in the flash folders)
you can have a custom font on your psp as well as play all games
So I will be able to have my custom bootsound with the debranded intro?
Also when can we expect this new update?
yea guys... i noticed.... when using the custom font, and running run umd, it actually loaded the custom font on the save/load screens.... i was surprised at that.... i tried using a few other optional loaders, but they were unable to load the custom font due to inability to access certain areas of the emulated firmware on the MS. so now i use my custom font and the mph loader for all of my games.... i'd like to thank capnfuffy for the idea to use mph loader practically full time...
I got the change opening sound working from the interface as the user today. So I will be able to have my custom bootsound with the debranded intro?

Just got change between original, and no sound. It won't take long to get a few
more sounds in there.
I don't want the option to insert your own sound from a file in this release until
I implement that properly... just a proof that it can work, and the mix and match
thing will work with everything.
