Sorry about that, I was at school. But I used this program. It's easy to use. Just type in the name and hit execute.

There are two ways to change the background. On 2.00+, just select a picture from the PHOTO folder. On 1.5, you replace the background images. They are located in flash0:/vsh/resource. There are 12 of them. Just replace those images with your own. No bigger than 300 x 170. You can use PSP Filer to replace them.

Where can I find flash0:/vsh/resource? And does it work with 2.71 SE-B'' ? With that 1.5 kernel enabled?

EDIT: AND by doing this...it'll have more of a chance on bricking you're PSP right...sorry but I'm very skeptical.

just use the newest xflash...

you can use it to flash backgrounds and whatnot.

How? I realized, that there's an option "Replace Janurary Background" Can't I use another picture...because that picture they use it hella small...and the picture i need is the psp screen size.

oh, I see what you mean now. You could set an image as a background so that it will be bmp, then take it out of flash0, resize it so that it wont screw up the psp, then rename it 01.bmp and flash it as january with xflash, but that is kinda long.

The thing is...I don't know what you mean by "You could flash a background" and I don't know how to find flash0....

The size of the background is a limitation of 1.50 firmware.
You can move sideways for the rest of the months... and the pic you want to flash as background
is named background.bmp.

how about an option to flash things like the bogus update sounds, or the 2.50 topmenu plugin. we' would have to supply the files, X-flash would flash everything for us safely

No, X-Flash does not currently do that. You would have to look at the guides in the PSP hacks section to learn how.

i asked for an option, like in a future realise, ive flashed an unflashed this stuff thousands of times with pspfiler, i know how to do it. but i wondered if xflash could eventually support it

I doubt it. If you had to supply the files yourself, and someone used the wrong file, they would turn around and blame Art for it.

It must be a 24bit Bitmap no larger than 300x170 or 150KB.

You can remove X-Flash at any time from your MS without effecting anything.

I just need those necessary things...the 300x170 size and no larger than 150kb? Don't I need to go into flash0 or something...or just put a 300x170 picture no larger than 150kb, and rename it Background.bmp and I'm all set?

This is the only question i'll ask for now lol...Thanks for helping capnfuffy...and btw, you're capnfuffy.com site is very good...used it to get my coldboots and gameboots...thanks a lot!

I've been using X-Flash for a while, and i haven't noticed any X/O button switcher, is there any reason for this? I don't like having to use a single app just for one function when i can just use X-Flash. =/

can't get X-Flash v16g to run

someone please help, i'm trying to run it with SE-C but after installing it i can't get to it to launch (might be corrupted). i was following hardrive's instructions to set up devhook .50 but i guess there's a few things i'm unsure of. i tried running it in both 1.5 and 2.71 putting it in game150 and game. nothing seems to be working. i know this is noob stuff but i'm really trying to learn as much as i can without bugging too many people. if anyone has any suggestions i would really appreciate the help.

Because you used a fairly large image as the flash background it will show white the first time you select it.
Select that month...then select it again and it should show your custom made one...then hit CIRCLE.
If that does not work try flashing the same image but on a smaller scale. ex. 200x114

solved

figured it out, i had the x-flash file itself in the game folder. as soon as i took the files out of it and copied them to the game folder it worked. sorry guys, kinda retarted here.

To get the background all black, with the waves effect...you'll have to goto "Paint" make the attributes 60x34 and fill it with black...then save it as a 24-bit bitmap file...and name it "background" then just drag that image to PSP>GAME150>xflash>modifi ed...after that go open up the xflash app...then go find the option "Replace January(or any month) Background" and press X...that's all you need to do...easy as that :) goodluck!
