Good to hear.
I'm exited :) If you provide your own mono opening that says:
You will sound like a complete moron until you apply a cool echo effect
that will make you sound like a spaceman or radio DJ, and be an acceptable intro sound.
Anyway, this will be a REALY cool feature :) and safe because the firmware vag file
headers and footers are not changed. just the data between.

any advance on changing the other menu sounds, select, error etc? this app is realy shaping up im much impressed, thanks for your work Art.
Hey Art, love this program. Is it possible to change the wavy line colour that is used? That would be sweet if there is a way to change it. Also the coldboot file would be nice to change :)
You can change the coldboot sound in this release, just no user supplied sound file yet.
sweet update art.... i still prefer my windows coldboot sound.... how can i add my own coldboot.vag file? b/c i tried the updated echo one, and it was cool and whatever but to each his (and/or her) own... i had to switch it back to my coldboot with another flashing prog... in other words... will there be an ability to add our own preferable coldboots to the opening plugin?... btw.... best... firmware flashing.... program... ever.... :Punk: rock on!!!!

It still shows the default wallpaper colour during the coldboot screen.
Is there anyway to show the wallpaper you have during this?
Also will we be able to add custom text to the boot screen in the future?
The next version will allow you to place your own VAG file in the Xflash/Modified folderwill there be an ability to add our own preferable coldboots to the opening plugin?
and use that. You will also be ablr to apply the echo effect to your own sound.
Nothing I can do about that yet, though I'd like to find a way to get rid of theIt still shows the default wallpaper colour during the coldboot screen.
monthly colours alltogether.
No, that text is dynamicaly generated by code, not just written somewhereAlso will we be able to add custom text to the boot screen in the future?
that can be edited like the menu labels. I have found ways to destroy it.. turning
the text into a white rectange, or remove it, but not change it.
It would be like trying to hand edit a movie file.
I hope you find a way to remove the monthly colours.
Its looks kinda stupid with a yellow background then going into black.
Anyway I look foward to your next release.
hi everyone, i kinda need help, if nobody minds, i was wondering if someone can kinda test my boot sound with their firmware launcher...i currently dont have a the FW Launcher set up on my psp.......
heres the file:
It works on the launcher for me.
It's a musical intro sound. Not as good as the original I think.
Actually that's familiar, it's something out of Windows or a Windows program.
How do I give points to you Art?
You have to have some first
You get them for posting, but I don't know if you have to be premium to donate them.
yup, windows xp start up.......Originally Posted by Art

Its quite funny that I've been a member for sooooo long yet I only have a few posts.
Actually, it's going too fast. It must not have been converted properly.oh, and thank you for testing it for me..
The XP sound posted on this page works properly:
boot up sounds
and plays at the right speed.
I will use it as the external (user vag file) example for V8a.
It will be better to deal in vag files rather than complete opening_plugin.rco files
in the near future.
The effective vag file limit is 100880 bytes (98.5 Kb) for Coldboot.vag,
but since larger files are auto truncated, smaller files are auto padded,
and original header and footer remain intact, I don't believe there will be
any vag file that could brick a PSP with X-Flash V8a (unlike user supplied fonts).
Passing complete opening_plugin.rco files around is not only illegal, but unsafe,
since an idiot could make one that will fail on any given month.
Thanks for putting in the "apps" in the list but i have an issue with the the holy s*** sound it wont remove nomatter what i do and if i try another over the top it plays afterwards any ideas?
Have you tried removing the boot sound?
i thought i had but i hadn't, thanks for that *adds cap with big D on*
describe the coldboot please
Does anyone else have this problem, I don't.i have an issue with the the holy s*** sound it wont remove nomatter what i do and if i try another over the top it plays afterwards any ideas?
The Coldboot sound is overwritten with any other coldboot sound, not an error sound.
Yes, like I said, I'm using the Windows sound as the Coldboot.vag example for V8a.Could you add this coldboot sound in your next release.
Sounds good and I can't wait.
I think it would be a good idea to add flashing a new gameboot.pmf.
PSPset is still the only app that does this an is very unsafe.

hey Art can you add this to your program :icon_smil
You can already apply that coldboot sample with the current version of X-Flash.
Just replace XFLASH/Xflash/Modified/Coldboot.vag with your own file, start X-Flash,
Go to Menu option 2, move sideways to option 8, and press X.
I tested it, there is a little music, and I can't quite make out what the voice says.
Same goes with that too,I think it would be a good idea to add flashing a new gameboot.pmf.
You can replace the dummy gameboot.pmf in the Xflash/Modified folder.
...but I don't talk about it because you should realy check new pmfs
with a firmware launcher since there is a size limit for them that
X-Flash does not check yet. X-Flash and PSPset with both currently let
you go right on ahead and brick your PSP with too large a pmf file.
This is not the case with the Coldboot.vag file. It is very safe to use as far as
flashing anything goes.
With some help from Samstag, I have sound working within the application itself
which livens things up a bit :) I used the Mikmod sound library for this.
i thought the coldboot.vag had to be a certain size? pspmenuedit pads it or says its too big!

yes the coldboot is limited in size.length
but what hes saying is you cant harm your psp if you try to use a coldboot thats too big
for the gameboot on the otherhand he does not have a restriction
so if you try using a huge .pmf file you will end up harming your psp
