Default How to make videos and screenshots of your Lua Script.

Okay, I see a lot of people making threads for their Lua scripts, but they don't have screenshots. Now, I think its good to take screenshots, so people get to get an overview of what your game will look like before they download it. I'll tell how you can screenshots, and even videos of your Lua games. Its pretty easy.

You'll need:
•Fraps, the program that can take screenshots and videos of your Lua Script. Get the freeware version here: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download149.html. You can also get the shareware version at www.fraps.com, however there is a short video time limit with it if you don't buy the full version.
•Lua Player for Windows. Here's the newest version, v0.18. http://dl.qj.net/Lua-Player-v0.18-fo...5963/catid/204.

Okay, first, just install Fraps for later. Now, you'll need to get your Lua script up and running on windows. Lets extract the folder inside the zip you downloaded for Lua Player for Windows.

Okay, go inside the Luaplayer for Windows folder. See the test file? Lets edit it a little. Right click it, and click edit. Like that. Notepad should open up. If it dosen't go to Notepad and open it up. Okay, you should just see a line that says "luaplayer test.lua". Well, below that, type "pause". Like this:
Why are we doing this, we ask? Well, the pause means when the script can't start, the application which loads the script pauses and tells you the error. Okay, now, lets place our script and its files in the luaplayer windows folder. Rename the script test.lua, so the Luaplayer for Windows recgonizes it. Now, double click the test file this time(not edit it) and your script will run. Great, you've now started up Luaplayer Windows. Now its time to take those screenshots.

Open up Fraps. You should see this configuration box:

Make sure to enable screen capture, and set a hot key. Okay! Go back to Lua Player Windows, and now, if Fraps is running, use that hot key to take a screenshot of your game. It'll show up in the C:/Fraps folder. Now to make a video of your game, all you have to do is press the video hotkey to start recording (Default F9) and press it again to stop. That too will show in C:/Fraps folder.

If theres anything I should edit, tell me so.

Wouldn't the PrtScrn button on the keyboard work (copies the screen to the clipboard)?

Yeah, I guess so, then you have to crop the image. This also tells how to make videos, and set up Luaplayer Windows, which is also pretty good. But I forgot about that.. kinda makes this pointless. ><

If it can make videos, than that is even better Why take a screenshot when you can take a nice video with this app! Ha, the thread isn't worthless/the app Nice guide though, very thorough with the screenshots

I am thinking of making a simple program that every frame is saved to a variable, then at the end it saves all the images on the memory stick.

Of course, you would need to animate it....

ALT+PrnSrc always works for me (it only takes a screenshot of the currently active window).

Additionally, LuaPlayer Windows does not support TrueType fonts which completely moves me away from touching the damn thing. Just use your PSP to save screenshots. Videos are un-needed.
