looking good now, this program is improving steadily ****y. good work on the fast update for the ini settings save.

there are still some pauses here and there, but its watchable. however, there are times when the psp freezes during playback, and after a few seconds, the psp auto shuts off. during this time, no wifi activity is noticed (server not uploading, psp wifi light is on steady green.)

suggestion:
1. is it possible to fast forward faster? this is needed because if you are watching a 30 minutes video, and ur psp freeze like the aboved mention case at....20 minutes into playback. it takes a bit too long to fast forward to the 20 minutes mark.
2. seeing that the server program is a program that is always running on a computer, instead of having the minimize button minimizing the program to the taskbar, can you have an option to make it minimize to the system tray instead? a server program should have an option to be more transparent, in other words, having it minimized to the taskbar is obstructive. having it minimized to the system tray is more pleasing.
3. if possible, see why the psp freeze and shuts off randomly during playback. this is harder to do, so take ur time on that. for reference, the psp freeze for a 640x480 xvid video.
4. file extension support: h264 because its getting more commonly used, mkv container, ogm, etc will be great of course.

This in violation of the GPL license... The source is not included with the binaries, nor is the source downloadable on his website... The link is dead or he took it down meaning violation of the licenese since the source for this release is no where found for public use. Uh oh!
EDIT
Yahoo is experiencing technical difficulties so i suggest re-uploading it somewhere more reliable or else a license violation may be found.

I still get these errors when i try to play a xvid i made of an dvd (wich i legally own, so no mistakes about that)

video specs:

Video : 309 Mb, 1009 Kbps, 25 fps, res. 624*352 (16:9), XVID = XVID Mpeg-4
Audio : 39 Mb, 129 Kbps, 48000 Hz, 2 kan., 0x55 = Lame MP3

Also, a file i encoded into .pmp format, with videora pmp converter, doesnt play and gives the same errors.

First, for about a sec, this msg flashes on a black screen:
(goes real fast, i made snapshot of it with my webcam)

It says:
Quote:
Loading ... stream_io_open: couldn't connect to server...
stream_io_read: invalid fd
But it is connected to the server right?
I mean,i have the port fwded, i can see my files, i can also update the list and everything...

THEN i get the:

Quote:
Error:

"pmp_lib_open: not a valid pmp file"

Press X

Am i doing something wrong?

If not, i hope my findings help make this program become better

i think u should try to stream a different file, not a file that u encoded on your own, to test if its connection issues, or video format issue. try downloading some videos, like the warcraft3 video ****y used, or download some anime episodes like me and try them. the anime eps works great btw.

on another note, the server program is really something. i am using a p3 866mhz with 512mb sdram and a 80gb wd ata100 8mb cache hard drive, and it still encodes fine, the psp bar doesnt catch up to the pc bar

Crashes most of the time, PSP shut off by itself while playing. Windows server side shows error ntdll and crash. ANd i notice the server window must be left untouch, if you switch task it crashes.

fintaj -> not so. i am streaming final fantasy xvid to my psp as i write this response. it really helps to set your appropriate video and audio bitrates. i am still using framerate/2. i am now getting about 45secs of video per freeze for rebuffer. i refuse to use my wifi without encryption, so this may have some impact there. i do have wifi power save turned off on the psp though. maybe i can figure a way out with dd-wrt to have an unencrypted ssid that only my psp will use. i will have to look into that. this program keeps getting better. good work ****ey. as for the GPL violation junk, i don't think that he is intentionally hosting this on geocities who blow goat nuts. that is probably the best available. it is apparent that he is making efforts to include the source. i have never understood wanna-be whistleblowers like sg57. i bet i know what you like to blow on the weekends.....

You can turn off WiFi broadcasting and make a ridiculous SSID, that way you can turn off encryption and only people who know the SSID can connect to your network.

Jeez NEVolution, you are so helpful. I'm not even being sarcastic, you are one of my favorite people on this forum. You aren't whiny, or spammy, you're just always answering peoples questions. I wish you could be a mod, except I doubt you ever would be for your 'objectionable' sig contents...

Hi all, do anyone have a linksys wrt54gs router ? with ddwrt firmware ? my videos stutter every seconds, i don't understand why...
Plus i' m using pmp mod 1.2 and stream my pmp vido without stuttering then i can't understand why it can't go smooth with pimpstreamer..

it would be nice if you can help me to configure my router.

i've tried all tips, turn encryption OFF, port forward, wifi power save OFF, firewall disable, antivirus disable, test with several videos long and short ...

Thx for your help

I havn't tried it yet, but it looks cool. Anyway that PiMPStreamer can use a TV Tuner as Input so that we have a portable TV useing the PSP rather than that Sony TV Device? Also is there anyway of using files already in the PMP format to stream?

Keep up the awesome work!
