Exclamation [RELEASE] PSPool v0.1b

I've finally got there, a proper public beta release!!

This game has been specially ported for the PSP, it has had at least 20 beta testers (including members of my family).. and they all gave me their own opinion on what would improve the gameplay/graphics/sound & general feel.. some ideas I put in and some I thought would be too much for a first release, but the ammo is there for the next release already.. I just need to lock myself away for another month  by the way, I am going to release the source code with the next release.. that gives me time to tidy up my code and remove any ambiguous bits.

## Special Thanks ##
go to Gerrit Jahan, for the original PC game & physics engine. Also Deanaw22 for the amazing graphics, dude I'll be calling upon you again in the near future :icon_wink & pauldude550/TPTaylor (changed his name on the forum recently) for his improvement and ideas for sound effects and music. Oh and last but not least my beta testers (listed in the README.PSP), it seriously wouldn't be as good as it is without you guys!

## New Feature ##
I added one new feature since the final beta release, the ability to change the table skin among other graphics (images below). The table is drawn from the 'images/table.bmp' file. Try changing the names of the other tables in the 'images/' dir to 'table.bmp' for your preferred colour.

## Controls ##
(when the balls are not moving)
[L] : help screen
[R] : activate/deactivate computer opponent
[SELECT] : new game, forfeit current game
[START] : demo mode, press any key to exit
[CROSS] : for placing the cue ball behind head string
[CIRCLE] : release cue ball in direction of cursor
[SQUARE] : hold down SQUARE and press up or down to
increase or decrease the shot's power
(can also be used to slow the cursor down for better aiming)
[TRIANGLE] : take screenshot (saves as screenshot.bmp)

Here are the screenshots:

and the files:

PSPool-v0.1b.zip
any problems you come across please report them here or on the beta thread, enjoy!

I love it!

I have been waiting for this game to come out for ages, and it has surpasses my expectations. Well done to BlackPhoenix, and the graphics designers, and all the beta testers!

Wow...this game is great. Fully working and everything! one suggestion: pixel by pixel movement using the d-pad.

Thanks for all the support!

I've been reading the blog comments from the main page and some people are having trouble getting this working on 2.5 & 2.6.. take a look at the 'PSPool' folder and see if there is a 'stderr.txt' and or another 'std' txt file.. this may give you helpful info to help solve your problem.. then again they might not. Either way let me know.

There is one problem that I've came across, it randomly happens when you return to the psp firmware menu and go back into the game without turning your PSP fully off, the game screen turns black as soon as the game loads yet the sound and one solitary pixel in the top right still work, it doesn't exit the game.. input still works and I can hear the balls clacking if I should play a shot blind.. something to look out for.

Anyway, work tomorrow and its past time i got some sleep, I’ll return in about 16 hours

I'd like to see it, but for some reason its giving me the following error:
Code:
Invalid Attachment specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the webmaster
I'd try again or upload it to a different place.

Skins are welcome from anyone, my official skins are done by Deanaw22 (cool guy, even helps with the blog comments.. thanks man!). 'm thinking of setting up a website for my homebrew soon, and I'll be adding a PSPool skins section, if anyone makes a skin I'll add them when the website is launched.. when it will be up and running all depends on my Uni course & work restrictions.. but I should have plenty of time in about a month to just blitz PSPool & make a website.. proper PHP, javascript, CSS, MySQL & XHTML strict DTD! It's been a while since I made a website but I'm looking forward to it!

I played this last night and enjoyed it; very nice work. I can see this coming in handy on long car trips the way PSPMillionaire does.

Good on the bus, underground (if your brave enough to whip out your PSP in public), trains, planes & *****ters too

I has been known to work on 2.6 but I've not tested it personally and some people have been saying that it doesn't work. I'm trying to work out the circumstances in which it doesn't work on a 2.6 but no one gives me all of the information I need to make a judgment call. It may just be that they didn't read the readme file properly.. or it could be a genuine problem.

Thanks, they are very kewl.. only quark I can find with them is that the bevelled trims to the pockets are a bit jagged but I can see where your going.. love the lighting effect and the drop shadows too!
