1. ## learning LUA...

i know there are many threads out there like c or lua and stuff like that...i have been looking around but i am still confused

i read an lua tutorial about ti and stuff and i made a hell world thing on my psp.....other than that i am useless

after reading the tutorial i need some help. i am confused about all the comands and how to figure out what does what and how to do it.... im sure there are many things to type in for something but how do u figure out and know what to type in then what does what and everything.....

i just pretty much wanna learn basic coding for it....maybe make a maze or whatnot and i would apeciate any help people can give me.

2. well what are you trying to do?

3. just learn basic coding i gues...you know some comands maybe make a little maze or crappy game or sumthing....then work my way up

5. um.. i did TMK and as i said some of it isnt making sense to me with learning all the comands and how to do stuff and everything....

6. ok well then lets make your text move around the screen:
you first create a y and x variable and a color one like so:
Code:
```red = Color.new(255,0,0)
x = 0
y = 0```
then you have to use pad commands like:
Code:
```while true do
if pad:left() then x = x + 1
--x is increasing by 1 as you hold down the left directional pad
elseif pad:right() then x = x - 1
elseif pad:down() then y = y + 1
elseif pad:up() then y = y - 1
end
--now that your movement is defined we print your words like so:
screen:print(x,y,"hello people",red)
--so thus you define the x location as the variable x and same with y so when the x --and y changes so does the location of the printed words
screen.flip()
screen.waitVblankStart()
end
-- end the while true do```
theres a simple text movement now use it with images and make games=-)

7. eh i'll try lol =)

8. it should work but i havent tried it

9. somewhatnoob, check out the Guide to ALL GUIDES in my sig, it has a "PSP Programming Section", and there are alternate Lua tutorials (see the evilmana ones, there's probably 5 more), colission detection in Lua, and some advanced techinques.

10. the thing im wondering is where do you ledarn all these commands and what not for how to make stuff and everything..... like i mean sure tutorials will help but how do u learn that saying one thing will make the psp do it in your app or what ever....

11. look on the LUAplayer wiki page
if im not mistaken, they have documentation

12. www.lua.org search some tutorials there

13. also just trial and error(although i surgest getting luaplayerwindows so you don't have to keep re-turning on your psp(that is if you have 2.1+))and if you can't figure it ask and remeber there tip for the future eventually you get the hang of it

14. Here's the Lua command line referance:
