    Default PiMPStreamer 0.4 (With RSS support)

    PiMPStreamer the PC to PSP streamer comes with a new edition:

    -RSS feeds support.
    simply drop an link (to a rss/xml file) onto the pimpstreamer feedlist and you can watch RSS feeds comfi with your PSP (1.5 only). Look for special dir:/http:// entries in the listing in PiMPStreamer. One click on your psp will start the download of the feed.

    -MP3 support (kinda)

    -ini file settings:
    extensionlist = comma separated list of extensions pimpstreamer should read.
    (it is up the ffmpeg avcodec lib if it is really supported)
    port

    further additions see update.txt

    BTW.. only 1 (!!) donation I received.. :) I don't mind, I have a 1.5 :)

    What kind of RSS would be applicable exactly?
    I haven't used RSS for video or audio before so I'm not too sure.

    Also, link for those who can't get it off geocities.

    Sweet, I can finally watch a decently streamed video with this app. (Tested with [DB]Naruto 183, almost no stuttering at all with the default settings.)
    Good job on whatever you did to it.

    RSS is useful I guess. Still haven't found a place to use it though.

    Default Examples...

    Anyone know where I can get documented examples about how to use the ffmpeg librarys for on the fly transcoding of videos?? Because I want to write a linux Streaming Server for MythTV so That I can use it to watch TV at home...

    I have started my app, and browsing my Videos with the pimp psp client works verry well, but know the stranger part is the on the fly transcoding, and i find that ffmpeg is not verry well documented (especially in german)

    hi, great little app, im getting studdering,maybe i'll try a different pc. Anyways what is almost very cool, is can stream tv, kinda. I have a hauppauge pvr150 which saves the tv as a mpeg, and i can stream that to the psp with pimp streamer, but it will stop whn i reachs the end of the file,let me explain.

    Since the mpeg is continously growing in size as its being saved by the pvr, once i start pimp streamer, it will think the file is complete at that point, so if its 100meg when i start pimp, it stops at 100meg, even though the file has grown in size to say 150meg, is there anyway to keep it streaming? so for my bad explanations,my first language is english,lol

    Yeah, I do this too.. I think the problem is that PiMP calulates the timelimit/mb of the mpeg so it only plays up untill 100MB for example, What needs to be done is getting PiMP to ignore the timelimit/mb or by tricking the timeleft to 999:99 so the Mpeg plays continously.

    Any ideas on how/if this would work ****y****?

    i'm not all that knowledgable in regards to RSS feeds and such, but i was curious... would it all be possible to hook up an in car dvd player to some sort of device (perhaps small laptop) that can stream the video to the psp so i could use it as a dispaly in my car instead of buying a dedicated in-dash display?

    hmmm i could put something in the ini:

    infiniteFileStream_1=loca tion-of-mpeg1
    infiniteFileStream_2=loca tion-of-mpeg2
    infiniteFileStream_N=loca tion-of-mpegN

    And let pimpstreamer give a very long duration to the psp client.

    but you will run out of diskspace after a while..:)

    hey, ****y that would be cool, i was thinking of doing this to. Would i be able to just put that in the ini, or will you need to create a new version.?

    Also ****y, Is it possible or can you add an option to allow streaming from the psp memory stick. So that if we are on the move, or cant access wifi, we can just drag an avi onto the memstick and then pimpstreamer will convert it to pmp and play. Instead of having to put a pmp on the memstick?
    Would that be possible?

    Using the PSP to transcode and play the video at the same time?

    Yes like what it does with the streaming part but the avi file is on the memorystick so it doesnt need the wifi, but it still goes through the same process

    Great work ****y****!

    although I seem to get error with almost every file I try to stream, I get like a input stream error, could not open stream 1 or something like that.

    Although to be fair, I'm pretty sure the majority of the movies I tried had AC3 for the audio track and thats probably not supported ATM.
    I was able to gert a few movies working and Im pretty sure that the ones that worked had regular CBR mp3 audio.

    I'll give some other files a try when I get home, although the regular PMPmod works just fine for me, playing around with new softs is always fun.

    BTW, NEvolution - I love your Renji avatar - I always get a kick out of the Shinigamis wearing human clothes ;D

    That is a common problem. The only way to fix it would be lower the bitrates.
