Default [RELEASE] ATPSP- Anti-Theft PSP 1.0

ok most of the credit should go to youresam1. he did most of the coding. basically if a theif steals your psp and opens the memory stick in windows explorer than it will send the IP of the computer to your email.

OPEN THE HTML FILE WITH NOTEPAD AND REPLACE THE CRAZY EMAIL WITH YOURS

ok just drag the 2 files into the root of your stick... im still working out some kinks but it basically works

Bugs:
1. the only way to explore ur psp is to right click and open or it will popup google all the time
Attached Files
File Type: zip ATPSP.ZIP‎ (378 Bytes, 153 views)

It's not really Anti-Theft. More like "Your PSP gets stolen and then you have to be Sherlock Holmes to get it back".

What about if it auto loads does it still send an email?

It sound really cool I am going to download it and give it a whirl!

If you don't want this to spam your inbox (and you happen to have gmail), you can apply a filter to and have it skip automaticaly archive it (so it dosen't bother you as much) and apply a label so it's easy to find when you do need it.

Nice little app!

Autorun.inf's a nice touch but the only prob is that it's limited in terms of customisation. It'd be cool if the index.html file could be run silently in the background while the user was still allowed to browse the contents of the memstick. That way the thief would be none the wiser.

wo BIG security flaws!
does'nt work with auto run.
and it does'nt work with folder view which by the way is how I view files.
fix those flaws and you have a sweet little security system.

BTW is there a way to change senders name to your psp thief!

So let me see if I understand this correctly: QJ.net is willfully acknowledging and helping to spread a new computer trojan?
I do so hope they have good legal representation, because no matter the original coder's intent, the result still violates U.S. law, which the owners of QJ.net must operate these servers by.
If I was an Admin/mod, this thread would be instantly deleted and youresam1 and realn0whereman would be permanently banned from QJ.net.
Otherwsise, they are opening themselves up to legal liabilities that I really don't think they have the money to afford.

You ladies didn't like it when Sony distributed software that others could then use as a 'rootkit', why are you condoning this type of nefarious behavior now?

this tool mails you ( you as in the owner of the psp and the email address you set it to mail). the mail it sends you contains the ip of the computer you plugged your psp into, and 9 times out of ten this will be your own machine.

when will the ip not be yours? (aside from when you use a friend's pc)

when it's been stolen - hence the point of the program.

now... stealing... that is illegal in most countries, to my knowledge...

...there are NO rootkits or trojans here, or anything even half related to either..

This does NOT violate ANY laws iball, can you at least take a look at the .html before jumping to conclusions and making FALSE statements?
It emails the person's IP address to you. Big deal.

Also, its for a good reason, and only if someone actually stole your PSP. I think you deserve to know who stole it.

Again, in a court of law it's still unauthorized code running on someone's computer other than the original owner without their intent - implied or other wise.
In other words, it's a trojan. Basically, it doesn't matter the 'intent' behind this, once you try to admit that evidence in court against a thief, you lose since the evidence - in this case an IP address - was obtained through illegal means and instantly inadmissible.
Any two-bit attorney can easily get a thief off who was apprehended by an IP address emailed by this program.
It's a far cry from a program that would run on the illegally-obtained PSP itself, since it's running only on a device that the true owner has given permission.
Even though it's very, very shoddily programmed it still meets the definition of malicious code or malware.
There is legal precedent for this and it not only opens up the QJ.net owners to tort litigation, but the original creator of this thread and the original coder as well.
Doesn't matter if the PSP is stolen since the code itself will be run from the thief's computer without his knowledge, not from the PSP itself as a standalone system without being connected to another computer.

NONE of my statements are false, rather your statement is since you can't back it up with either legal precendent or anything other than your opinion.
