I've added an alarm clock & a low battery voice warning to iR Shell. IMO, the low battery voice warning will be quite useful since you can't really see the power led blinking while playing a game. Wouldn't it be nice to hear a voice saying "Your battery is low, pls recharge" before your battery drys out?
I would like to ask someone to help or find a chick to do the recording. If you're a female with a nice voice or you have girl friends that have sexy voice, pls let me know if you're willing to help. To show my appreciation, you'll be added to the iR Shell beta team. TIA! |

Very very useful idea.
But I say a recurring yet somewhat annoying beep sound would suffice for these purposes.

But what you should do AhMan, is if the AC adapter is in and the battery is low, it would cancel the voice. Sometimes people play with their psp while the charger in.(I know I do if I clock the PSP to 333MHz and play GTA) Also, you should put an on/off feature, so the user doesn't have to hear it if s/he doesn't want to. Just some suggestions

I have a pretty stupid question...
Could I have my PSP in Sleep Mode and have the Alarm still wake me up? I just don't want to have my PSP on all night for the Alarm and then have to charge it in the morning because of some battery loss. |

Quick Q about the CPU: Lowering its MHZ means saving battery life? So, If I'm listening to music with the IR Shell at 100MHZ instead of 222MHZ, its should last ~2x as long?

AhMan, why not clock the PSP to 1mhz, and turn the screen off while the alarm feature is enabled, then clock it back up to 333mhz, and turn the screen on when the alarm is needed, that is pretty much a "sleep mode."

The buttons are very responsive for the 1MHz Chinese Reader (text reader) program.
I don't know how this is achieved, maybe the program is doing nothing else but wait for a button at the times they are pressed, since it is only a text reader. |

Don't know, I've only had the input routine as part of the main routine.
I'm new to this magical "multi tasking" arrangement with the PSP, but I assumed still, that the CPU running at 1MHz still had to find spare CPU time to service the input checking no matter how implemented. There must be a way though. Is IRshell always drawing new screen frames in real time? I don't know if it's the type of program where it is easy to suspend everything other than button checking. I also want to make 1MHz low power mode work for programs other than an alarm clock. |

The reason for the keys not responsive under 1MHz is 'cos iR Shell put the key handling at a very low priority, so the keys polling won't affect your homebrew/game performance. Of course this can be treated differently when running 1MHz, but I would rather not bother with it.
