If I make a game using sprites from another game, AND give credit to all the original autors/developers, is it still copyright infringement?

Its still copryright infringment unless you get specific permission from the authors

Dang, I have all my own sprites made up, but I thought the game would be better with the original sprites. Too bad it's illegal.

Most homebrew games use "borrowed" sprites. While it technically is illegal, I don't think anyone really gets in trouble for those things so long as they aren't passing it off as a part of a specific series or whatnot.

It's illegal.
But i doubt you'll get caught.
You just won't get feautured on the PSPUpdates frontpage XD

If you say what the game is, it might give us an insight...

But anyway, ripped sprites is illegal unless the game and it's sprites are considered public domain. If you tell me what game it is I could give you some more information.

Its only infringement if it is released to people who do not own the game. There is so much copyright infringement on these forums alread (starcraft, redalert, most rpg things that have anything zelda in them), actualy most game clones are copyright infringement (they dont own the ideas of the game so it is also violating a patent). The homebrew community is supported by opy right infringement so dont worry bout it.
