there are some extremly talented PSP developers around and they are amazing the way they come up with all this new Homebrew for the PSP.
I was wondering, For a person with a semi-bricked PSP. is there an overflow or some other exploit that would allow homebrew to run. Possibly to fix the proplem. Example I Used PSPSET to change me gameboot. i used FA to extract the gameboot from Ea games's Need for speed. PSPSET jammed and now my psp's jams when running any kind of homebrew or umd runing. It Jams on the Gameboot. MP3 and videos still work!.. is there any exploit for a 1.5 psp?? - [THIS PSP HAS NEVER BEEN UPGRADED TO 2.0] It is a Virgin PSP! thanks.. and LONG LIVE THE PSP HACKERS.. |

Do the eboot updates show gameboot? never tried one.. figured they would though.
![]() Maybe network udpate? you'd be stuck with a 2.71 but at least you could play UMD games with it. |

I was reading on another forum last night (I forget the name now), someone else had a very similar problem, except he couldn't access the menu at all, all he could do was run UMDs already in the drive.
If you can access the XMB, you should be able to upgrade and then downgrade if you can run a game with an update, or put an eboot on your memstick. If not, I think your only hope is the UP chip or a new Mobo. |

If you can run network update, then you could set your computer up to pretend to be the sony server, and dish out the 2.00 eboot as the latest update, then downgrade again from there. (NO THIS WILL NOT DOWNGRADE 2.00+ PSPS)
How to do this is an exercise left to the reader, hints: I WILL NOT HELP YOU DO THIS, DON'T PM ME, IF I RESPOND TO THIS THREAD AGAIN THANK YOUR LUCKY STARS IF THIS SEEMS BEYOND YOU IT PROBABLY IS.Capture the traffic between the sony server and the psp while it is seeing what updates are available. Set up your pc with the ip of the sony server, run a dns server to resolve their dns to your pc. Set up your psp on this network. Run a http server on your pc to serve up the 2.00 update and the files needed to make your psp think 2.00 is the latest. (iirc it is fetched over http) Upgrade to 2.00. Theres a few things in there that could be differently, but thats one possible way. AFAIK that could work, haven't had a go at this so no real idea myself

nope i think it may need to be the chip as a result. people on maxconsole also had this problem and are still maybe stuck with it.
nobody has been able to run upgrades because they ALL use the gameboot. network update just dl's the file for you to the psp, so you still gotta launch it. i dont think there is any way yet for the mo, you will need that chip. |

Actually, I think denzel has the idea. When you run an update from 'Network Update', it doesnt show the gameboot. So, yeah, setting up a custom DNS resolve should work.
