I believe that .gmax is a closed file format, much like .max is.
You would probably be better doing as you have been, and converting the gmax models to your own format. Either that or use another format such as .3ds or .obj

Well, im conserned bout eboot size, i dont really want to have the eboot to be 50 megs cus of a butt load of 3d objects.
@Insomniac197: .3ds IS a .max but in a different format. I guess i'll have to implament c 3d code exporting to my gmax2psp... it was inevitable .

hmmm, interesting... I'll look in to it and i might find a way to render 3ds files on the psp.
although it may take a while. OT (yet sorta related): I'm thinking bout having a 3d world for my angelic layer mmo game to make it seem more rpg like (kind of like phanasy star online) instead of it being just a chat room. |

If you got to http://forums.ps2dev.org and search around, I think in a thread about 3D fonts, Lumos posted about a tool he created which will take 3D objects you made in 3DS Studio Max or Maya(can't remember which) and export them to a format for the PSP.

I think i may have found it, but i think the sorce isn't released yet.
BUT, i did find a 3ds parser on google and i think with a bit of re-enginering it can be used to load and display 3ds files on the psp. I've included the sorce zip file of the parser so ppl can help out in this. |
