    Default Gameboot Flasher for 2.6!

Well, not to leave out the people with a TA-082 mother board, I've made this. A simple gameboot.pmf flasher for 2.6ers(there's confirms of this working on 2.5 as well)! based off the work of hitchikr, neural, DarK_AleX, Yoshihiro, and Mathieulh.

Just simply put the gameboot.pmf in the root of your memorystick, run the program, and it'll flash it directly to your flash0:/vsh/resources/ folder.

Incase you're wondering what a gameboot.pmf is, well it's basically that little start up video whenever you run a UMD. You can use this program to change that little video to be something else.

Some people may have noticed an opening_plugin.rco flasher and a topmenu_plugin.rco flasher; well those were based off my program here, I just didn't have a chance to release the original yet ;)

    NOTES:
    * There's always a risk of bricking your psp while flashing something. Although this has been tested and confirmed working; you are using this at your own risk. I am not the one to be held responsible if infact you do brick your psp while using this software.
    * I'm not 100% sure on this one, but I believe the MAX gameboot.pmf size is 1mb. Please avoid flashing gameboots that are any larger. If you flash anything larger than 1 mb, you may end up with a brick.
    * Thanks to TMK for the idea, and for helping me test it ;)

    So here you have it,

Nice, it seems TA-082 users are going to be hit with a nice and juicy bombshell of kernel homebrew soon.

X-Flash's current limit is 1.13 MB, but Art said he would be increasing it all the wa to 2.5 MB. So you're 100% safe with a file under 1.13 MB, and most likely safe with a file under 2 MB.

Yes, because it's based off the downgrader code. That's exactly what the downgrader did.

What gameboot did you use? :)

Sure, it's possible. Just change the file and the path. I bet you want a black one?

It's pretty fun to edit the things in the firmware dump in Devhook. My emulated 2.6 has a custom font, backgrounds with the wavy lines, and a custom gameboot. =]

Perhaps I'll be seen as a noob for asking, but what exactly does this do, or give access to? Owning a TA-082, I can't make use of the downgrader, so does this provide some kind of similar functionality to a 1.5 on a 2.6? Or am I completely off the mark and this is just test software of something else using the kernel exploit?

sort of... this will let you change that gay arse 'PSP' game boot 'video'/'animation' to whatever you want, as long as the one you want is a PMF file. 1.5 users have been able to do this for a very long time. This is just hittin 2.5-.6 PSPs so its a pretty big deal i suppose...

A big deal? Please, a custom gameboot is only cosmetics.
This is just another use of the custom flash utitly that is the downgrader.

Not to diss the developer, its great that you do something for those poor TA-082 to play around with. However its in no way "a big deal".

uhh, reading/writing to flash on a 2.6 is a very big deal. And with this not being the downgrader (or dater or w/e the gayly named thing is) this may lead to that permenant patch for hte Kernel Loader for 2.5-2.6. So yes, id suppose this is a pretty bid deal seeing as how i rally rather have full kernel plus 2.6 codecs/features then 1.5 and full kernel and no codecs/features without having to hall around an extra 20 some odd megabytes.

Upgrade your 2.01 to either 2.6 or 2.5 and you can run this to change you PSPs XMB menu names of icons, fonts (fonts will come im sure), and just about anything now.

Or do the right thing and downgrade from 2.5/2.6 to 1.5 then to 2.0 and back to 1.5 (to fix mess with regions and crud) and enjoy homebrew to the fullest. Oh and get to see my 3d PSPGL Robot example/demo i made only after 3 days of learning GL :) gotta advertise a little :[
