Depends, if you can still run vshmain.prx and recovery.elf, then yes you can. (Put index.dat of a 1.00 on ms0:/ and the 1.50 update eboot in PSP/GAME/UPDATE... flash index.dat and run the update eboot via recovery)

Do i have to put index.dat to the MS before bricking my PSP? Or can i start after the brick the recovery mode and connect to USB?
And can i run these files in the most cases? Can i still run them if i made a mistake with X-Flash or ThemePSP?

what does the index.dat do anyways? iv been wondering , does it have something to do with recovery?
I think the index.dat of a 1.00 firmware allows to install all 1.50+ firmwares.

heres an idea for that project if able to extand the gameboot.pmf movie play to 10 seconds instead of 3
With 10 seconds you can have a nice gameboot thats sure, but the 3 seconds are really enough for me when starting a homebrew...
yea but still you remember to original playstation bootup when u loaded a game i have that in a .pmf format as well as capcoms stuff and its over 3 seconds i thought that would be cool to do.

ok I got a question for some people who have done this. I have the Custom firmware by harley G patched to .02 it's quite nice to be so blunt! There's just one thing though. I'm kind of dissapointed that there is no startup screen for my psp. Is there any way I can change that. I saw a video on youtube that says the no startupboot is optional. I don't see this option in the load menu. Has anyone does this?

No, if you enable the sony intro, then it will autoboot umds. You can change the security settings to 0 to cancel it, but its a hassle.
