Default [Release] VSHExtender 0.1 for 1.50 with custom firmware

Below is readme.txt from the attached archive.

VSHExtender module for 1.50 by jas0nuk
    Version 0.1
    ------------------------------------------

Partially based on BOOSTER's code but largely rewritten for 1.50 firmware.

This module adds 'extensions' to your 1.50 VSH/XMB that can be accessed via keypresses.
It should be used with the Dark_AleX custom firmware or a similar custom firmware that allows you to use external modules.

    Features
    --------

    - Press HOME + SELECT in the XMB to change the CPU and GPU speeds, steps are 133/66, 222/111, 266/133, and 333/166
    - Press HOME + CIRCLE in the XMB to change the CPU speed to 30MHz and the GPU to 50MHz. This makes the XMB become a little laggy but is fine for playing AT3 music or AVC video as this is hardware decoded :)
    - Press HOME + L TRIGGER to execute ms0:/PSP/SYSTEM/DEVBOOT.PBP - this is yet ANOTHER way of booting DevHook instantly into 2.71 firmware, but now you can do it after startup
    - Press HOME + R TRIGGER to get battery percentage, voltage and temperature information.

    Installation
    -----------
.. is very simple, just add the line

    loadmodule0 = "ms0:/PSP/SYSTEM/vshex.prx"

    to your config.txt in ms0:/PSP/SYSTEM.
Alternatively, if this line is already taken by another module, add it as

    loadmodule1 = "ms0:/PSP/SYSTEM/vshex.prx"
    or loadmodule2 = "ms0:/PSP/SYSTEM/vshex.prx"
    or loadmodule3 = "ms0:/PSP/SYSTEM/vshex.prx"
    etc...

Then copy vshex.prx from the SYSTEM folder in the attached archive into your ms0:/PSP/SYSTEM folder
( Note: the archive is a little messed up, SYSTEM should be inside PSP, not outside :/ )

This mod has been tested by me countless times, and works fine with Dark_Alex's custom firmware and it's variants, such as LordSturms' and harleyg's 0.1 and 0.2 custom firmware.

Please make your feature requests and bug reports here.

    Currently requested features
    - Battery meter - DONE!
    - "AutoUSB" (press a button combo and USB is activated instantly, and a warning is shown on the screen until it is deactivated with the same keys)
    - AIOMod.prx compatibility
    - Customizable button combos
    - Backlight deactivator

Most of these will make it into 0.2 :)

Awesome. I was thinking about how I sometimes want to boot into 1.5 but then don't wanna press maybe 3 buttons to get to Devhook under the game menu... err...

Home + Circle is a nice option, and I think Home + R-Trigger can come in handy on the road. Maybe you could make a display on the battery meter approximating how much time you have left by using some sort of ratio between the battery % and the CPU/GPU speeds... that would be nice.

    EDIT:
Oh, and with that approx. display, maybe if the charger is plugged in you could approximate how long it will take to fully charge the PSP, adding a nice little charging bar that gradually fills up (more than the useless 3 bars on the battery symbol)
    1.52US New => 2.0JP => 1.5US => 2.0US => 1.5US => 2.0US => 1.5US => 2.0US => 2.6US => 1.5US! THANK YOU DARK_ALEX AND THE REST OF THE GANG!

would it be possible to add a clock working during games and homebrew with such a prx? (in a corner of the display, turned on or off by keypress).

Danzels guide to becoming a 1337_P5P_h4x0r!

    1) Someone else writes a useful prx and releases the code
    2) Download the code and modify it a little bit
    3) Compile modified code and release it without the source code

Why don't you release the code? oh, because someone will steal it and claim it as their own? You mean like you're doing!?

    Not another one

Please don't accuse me of ripping code.

As soon as I get home, I'll tidy up the source and release it. At the moment, it's embarrasingly inefficient and bulky.

As for the mod's, yer thats what i was told, and most evidence points that way.

Dude can u sorta make a compromize with the AIOMod.prx guy, cuz im sure the CPU controls on both ur mod's would effect each other, and yer i wanted to include both ur great mod's into my CF, but hey, ill give it time.

How effective is underclocking the psp while playing music to 30mhz to save battery life, assuming the screen is turned off and headphones are being used?

Well chuck up the battery screen and see how effective it is, the battery drain takes about 30 seconds to calculate with a low cpu, so mess with it... :P

To actually cycle through the clock speeds I press and hold home, then press select once to bring up the current clock speed, and then repeatedly after that to cycle through the available speeds. Just pressing "HOME + SELECT" once and then not pressing it again until after the display goes away won't change the clockspeed. Hope that helps.

Ah, I forgot about that. You're right chzyrat.

The first press of HOME + SELECT only shows your current speed, if you press it again while the display is still on, it changes the speed.

I'm just wondering, for the people who this doesn't work for, have you actually copied vshex.prx and DEVBOOT.PBP to ms0:/PSP/SYSTEM ?

Awesome work on the prx, man!

BTW, your return to 1.5 mod for devhook is the sole reason i'm still on 0.42
hope to see it in a future version of devhook one day!

Can't wait to see what other modules you've got in store for us!

    3) Compile modified code and release it without the source code

Why don't you release the code? oh, because someone will steal it and claim it as their own? You mean like you're doing!?

    Not another one

    Hi.
I have never used File IO functions before, I may look into such a feature, but it won't be for a while :)
