Default Flash-Me 0.01 - A Simple Flash Modification tool for 2.6 PSPs

Here it is, my first release of a 2.6 flash modification tool.

Info (ripped from the read-me):
Quote:
Flash-Me v0.01
by SodR

Plattform: PSP FW 2.6
Coded in: C
Version: 0.01

Thanks to hitchhikr for the kernel exploit and the devs of the downgrader
(I borrowed the restart function from there) and slasher for the gameboot intaller (althrough
I haven't used anything from his source, all the flashing stuff come originally from ThemePSP)

--
!! This software is experminential and it does write to the flash! Use it at your own risk !!
!! Another thing to note is that I didn't get this to work on DevHook using FW 2.5. But that !!
!! might be different when using the program on a real 2.5 flash. !!
--

What is this?

This is a simple flashmod for 2.6 PSP's (I don't know about 2.5) for those who wish not to downgrade and/or have
a TA-082 motherboard.

Functions:

- Can flash Wallpaper (you can now finaly have a black wallpaper with wavy lines =))
- Can flash font
- Can flash gameboot
- Can flash boot sound
- It has a "restore to default" option
- Exits if it's unable to flash the file (eg. the file doesn't exist ect.)

How to use:

Simply place the Flash-Me folder int PSP/GAME/ folder like any other homebrew and then put your
custom files in the custom folder inside PSP/GAME/Flash-Me/.

- If you want custom BG and just have one image, name it to BG.bmp. If you got more then one, name them
01.bmp - 12.bmp.
- For font copy all the 16 ltn0.pgf - ltn15.pgf to the custom folder.
- For gameboot; simply copy a .pmf file (i don't recommend files over 1 mb) to the custom folder and rename them
to gameboot.pmf
- For bootsound simply copy your opening_plugin.rco to the custom folder

Then boot up eLoader and select a thing you want to flash and hit X to install your custom files or hit O restore
to the default XMB. After you have pushed either X or O the screen will go black, but don't worry, this is normal.
This is when the acctuall flashing is beeing done. Wait some time and the PSP will automaticlly reboot the same
way as the downgrader, meaning that your psp will display the "Disc could not be read" -error. Just Restart your
PSP once again and it should work fine.

Is this safe:

I have personally tested this when emulating the 2.6 firmware using devhook several times without problems.
But when it comes to flashing there is nevery any guarantees so if this bricks your psp you can't blame me.
If you don't agree with this then you should not use this program.

Regards, SodR
Hope'll enjoy it =P

Download

Regards, SodR

Sounds like a great program. Good Job. Thanks for thinking of us TA-082s. I'm gonna wait till some braver people check this out.

Is it really possible to use the DevHook as a good/reliable development environment for homebrew? I'm not saying anything, I'm just asking.

The good thing about DevHook is that it's always running in the background emulating the firmware instead of MPHFL which would quit. That means that all the exploits which works on the original FW also works on DevHook = Almost no difference between the real FW and DevHooked FW. So if this that does work perfectly when emulating the 2.6 firmware doesn't work on a real 2.6 wouldn't work I would be very surprised...

If everyone waits until its confirmed, there will be noone to confirm it .-.

I'd test it myself if I had a 2.6 PSP.

Hey there are alot of people here who have like three or four PSPs, I only have my lone one. I really can't afford to get another one if it bricks and there is always a chance that it might. I just want to know how small a chance it is.

I suppose you do have a point there. Though I wouldn't say ALOT of people have multiples.

Well, yes, but all 8 pages are people flaming mooser <3

I would NOT trust mooser's flashing apps. He can't even create a theme for your program correctly, the hell if I'm bricking my PSP with his 'application'.

Don't sink to the level of random flaming. And a video proves nothing about the SUCCESS RATE of the application.

I really couldn't care less. Why would anyone use your app when we have SodR's anyways //-_\\\

Good to see Flash-Me finally making it to homepage. I think you should go with a name change though.

Well I have a 2.6 (not with the wrong board)

- If you want custom BG and just have one image, name it to BG.bmp. If you got more then one, name them
01.bmp to 12.bmp.
- For font, copy all the 16 ltn0.pgf - ltn15.pgf to the custom folder.
- For gameboot, simply copy a .pmf file (files over 1MB not recommended) to the custom folder and rename them
to gameboot.pmf
- For bootsound simply copy your opening_plugin.rco to the custom folder

Dont know if I dare. Not that I don't trust you. I dont dare to downgrade to 1.5

I think I will use it when it get some more functions. Is it imposseble to open up for homebrew without gta on 2.6?

If you don't have a TA-82 motherboard, just downgrade to 1.5

Then you can install the firmware mod and make your PSP pretty much unbrickable and not have to worry about it //-_\\\
