This is an early version of a game I started yesterday called "Freefall"
it's the first game I ever attempted to mak for the psp. it's in lua so you'll need lua player. ![]() ![]() the controls are real simple, press L to move left, and R to move right. even after letting go of a button you will continue to slowly "sway" in that direction, so pressing both L+R will slow down your falling, and steady you out. the objective is to try and avoid the black bars, it's still in an early stage, but the core of the game is very solid, the movement is really smooth, and the controls are really responsive. the only thing that's really wrong, is after you collide with a bar, you may have to press start a couple times to continue, I'm not sure what it is that's making it so glitchy there, but there is nothing that affects the gameplay. I plan on adding a menu, some sound effects, and fixing the game over screen. other than that, it's pretty solid. the cloud background moves moves to give the effect of falling, and it has a real smooth transition when it starts over (I don't think anybody will be able to spot when the animation starts over )the bars that come up are random (well sort of, they are randomly chosen from a pre-determined set of bars, and lua "random" function isn't as random as it would seem) it does display a score, and the bars do get closer as the game progresses making it harder to navigate through them. any feedback is appreciated, good or bad. looks nice, im downloading it now.
EDIT: There seems to be a bug, everytime i load it up the death screen comes up straight away and after I press start (to restart) the player wanted die. It could be that im using windows luaplayer. Anyway its very good for a first game.

does the death screen show up right from the start? before the game even starts? if so, it may be because of windows lua because it worked fine on the psp. is the game playable after that initial game over screen? or does it never go away? |
