*NEW RELEASE* Orbz 0.1 - Beta platformer with level editor.
BEFORE I BEGIN: ALL credit goes to Mako, I haven't done jack **** during the development of Orbz. The only thing I did was supply the music and sprites, everything else is by HIM. If this was by any chance going to end up on DL.QJ.net, the author should say Mako.
This is Orbz 0.2c, made by Mako. The game is based on the PC version made by me with Game Maker 6.1. There isn't much so far as it's still a beta, however most of the simple things have gotten to work by now. Jumping, collision, music, etc. all the basic stuff is done.
It's a platform jumper coded in Lua. Like I said don't excpect anything super amazing since it's still a beta. The goal is pretty simple, move your Orb and get to the exit portal. Grabbing a key will break the blocks of the corresbonding color. When you reach the portal you will be moved to the next level. When your lives run out, you will be sent to the previous level with your three lives back. (your lives are basicly health points)
D-PAD LEFT: Move your Orbz left.
D-PAD RIGHT: Move your Orb right.
D-PAD UP: Jump.
(sorry, no analog support yet)
You can also create your own levels. Open up the LUA file with your favorite text editor (preferably Notepad) and add blocks using letters.
a = yellow blocks.
b = blue blocks.
c = dirt blocks (floor).
d = blue key.
Set the Orb start point with "playerX" and "playerY". Set the exit portal coordinates with "exitX" and "exitY". Set the previous level, and next level with "nxt" and "prev" (don't forget to put .lua at the end!). You can also adjust music volume and background images as well (they have to take up the full PSP screen, or the rest will be black space). The first "room" in the text file is how it is when you start. The next "room" is when you grab the key. So be creative and ONLY take out the blue blocks.
And if you think your levels are great, feel free to send them to Waddle_Donut@hotmail.com so we can take a look at them, and they might appear in future releases if they're good enough! :)
Have fun! :humped:
UPDATE: It's been updated to 0.2c, with a major speed increase and more more Lua files, just two PBPs. Also a few new levels were added, and this one works with eLoader. The link will be updated very soon.
