Simply no. The PSP does not support Java, only Javascript. And you can't program an emulator with Javascript.

Hokay... But you can't run Java on PSP. Javascript and Java are two different things.

Are you serious? Java is popular because it runs on many different OS's, although it sacrifices a bit of performance for that, so I thought that most emulators would be compiled specifically for their OS from C/C++ or something...

Ya, don't listen to him. Emulators aren't made in Java.

If he/she is, then I must be missing a lot of emulators as all the ones I use and see are all C/C++/ASM.

Actually it is a great cross platform language to produce applications (eg Azureus). The only real down side is that it can be slow and eats up resources.

I've seen one emu written in Java. It was a GB emulator that runs in a website for the viewers'...entertainment.

Yea, Javascript. Javascript is so weak it cannot even write to files, that is why our hypertext portals suck.

Java is another language for the internet, however it is not processed by the browser, it is processed through the Java RunTime Environment.

It can't write to files on the server because it's a client-side scripting language. You should use PHP to make your portals "not suck". =P

Java. .jar files are like libraries for Java programs. And .java files are source code files. At least they should be.

So does this mean indeed the PSP is capable of running java whn embedded into a program (going out on a limb on this one)?

He probably used the Java runtime in his program...

So yes. I'm no authority, though.

Heh. I'm pretty sure those Java files are used on the server's side.

Aren't .jar files the binaries created from the .java source? I may be wrong though.

.jar files are 'archives' like .zip files of a group of compiled java bytecode aka .class files.

the map program was not actually running java. google's map service is running java, (the AJAX combo to be more particular), but the map program on PsP only queries that server running a java program and parses the information it returns.

it itself never executes any code.
