Default Deniska's Map This!

Dunno if this has been posted yet but heres the first release.

Main Features

- Scroll through large (up to 65536x65536 pixels) maps.
- Zoom in/out. The number of zoom levels depends of on the size of the map.
- Large coverage. The program uses imagery from Google Maps, which currently have pretty good coverage of
North America, Western Europe, Australia, Japan. Visit Google maps, to find out if they provide required
coverage for your location.
- Customizable map size, level of detail and coverage.
- Ability to display zipped maps (currently buggy)
- Ability to display satellite and hybrid maps from Google.
- WIFI map retrieval: ability to acquire and store map data to Memory stick over WIFI
- Linux/Cygwin script is also provided to generate a map of given size and detail for a given location.
- GPS support: ability to read and interpret NMEA sentences from a GPS receiver communicating through PSP's serial port.

In GPS mode there are following features:
- Speed, direction, altitude, latitude, longitude, number of satellites in view.
- NORTH UP mode: map is displayed with NORTH always on top. The arrow in the middle turns to shows current direction.
- TRACK UP mode: map rotates so that direction of movement is always from top down.
- Record GPS data (captures NMEA sentences in gps.txt file for later replay)
- POI/Attractions data support. Ability to select and display different types of attractions.

check it out.

Is there a way I can get a map of my own location?

I've been searching everywhere for a way to download a map from Google maps, but I couldn't find a place to.

No it doesn't, and it has two maps: one global, and one for England.

But the global map can't zoom in to where I can see the my neighborhood or town. It lists all the major cities, and the interstates, but nothing more than that.

I also don't have WiFi or a GPS, but when I activate GPS, it shows the Speed, Direction, and Altitude of something? Because it's constantly changing, lol!

instead of using the world map and zooming in, i just used a website to find the exact coordinates of my street address and just typed it in manually.
http://www.geocode.com/modules.php?name=TestDrive_Eagle

it's only US though.

also.
i think it would be incredible if a little MAPQUEST like feature was added.
i don't know how difficult this would be since i don't know a thing about coding, but a good idea eh?

ROFL , that wasn't directed at you (it was directed at the guy above your previous post). Sorry if it seemed that way. I did forget to use the quote syntax .

Anyway, to make maps you gotta have CYGWIN or something and use the tool he provided. I won't mess with it anytime soon.

You're really best off on Deniska's forum.
I don't think many ppl here use it.
I had it running, but not with the PSP official GPS unit.

So I can use my psp as a straight up gps if I have the unit? Do I need wi-fi in America for maps? This has got to be one of the greatest homebrews ever because you just gave use to my $50 gps unit. =] I thought I was SOL when I got back from Japan and found out maps weren't made for the US. haha Very grateful mate.

[edit]Does anyone know where to get the usb.prx and gps.prx? Trying google now, but its not giving me much. =\

[edit2]Does anyone have a mirror? The original link is dead.
