Default [Release] Wolfenstein 3D Test

Here is a quick port of Wolfenstein 3D based off the SDL port and using some code from my other Nintendo DS port.

A few notes:
------------------
1) May still be a few bugs
2) No sound
3) No music
4) No saving
5) No loading
6) The analogue stick is used for movement, even in the menu

Default key mapping (from imap.txt):
Code:
shoot=cross
use=circle
run=square
cancel=triangle
menu=select
pause=start
nextweapon=right
prevweapon=left
strafeleft=ltrigger
straferight=rtrigger
You can redefine the keys if you don't like how it's set to by default, just check imap.txt to see how it goes.
If you do find a bug, let me know so it can be fixed.

I have tested this on firmware 1.5 (emulated) and through the 2.71 XMB with the latest homebrew enabler.

Thanks to:
Raphael (GU code)

Anyone on IRC who put up with my dumb questions

Oh my God! You don't know what Wolfenstein 3D is?
This game pre-dates Doom. I remember playing it when it was first released.
Think "Killing Nazis and Hitler".

@the developer: Now get back to work on the DS version! We want sound!

You may want to update the "read this" in the menu and configure it to the PSP controls. Other than that it's really nice.

Just a few things:

You can navigate the "Read This" menu, use the analogue stick to the left and right.
Exit with the cancel button (mapped to triangle by default).

I am also not leaving the DS scene either, I like both handhelds equally and will continue to develop for both.

Well if I'm not mistaken the original Doom games uses this engine.

Haven't learned PSP audio yet, I'm actually disappointed with the PSP's audio capabilities.

No idea what that is or does, but I have heard of it.
I'm just angry that everything must be 44100hz (unless whoever told me that was mistaken), since it greatly increases my workload.

The media engine uses the PSPs GPU to process sound. Popular emulation technique because then sound doesnt rely on the CPU and wont slow down the emulator.

That can't be true lazy1 since in most psp emulators you can change the hz rate from 11025hz to 22050hz and to 44100hz.

That's because 11025Hz and 22050Hz can easily be upscaled to 44100Hz by simple sample doubling/quadrupling. However, 48000Hz for example are harder to "emulate", because you'd need to interpolate the samples to get proper output.

well, lazy1, i played and i think there are some speed issues, and control issues (well, that might just be because the nub on my PSP is gone) so, contact me on AIM or PM me or something, i wanna get in on the development of this in any way i can, i'm more than willing to help (note, i suck at coding, nor can i compile for anything at the moment)

You have to be more specific, I can't guess what the control issues are.
I think I know the speed issue, by default the SDL port was limited to 35fps.
I removed that limit so I guess it would seem a bit fast now, I guess I'll re-add that cap in the next release.

Raphael: Well, I think 6896hz is going to be a problem then.
The only way around it I see is to extract the sound data PC side, resample it then re-pack it.

Problem is that it would break those data files for any other version of Wolf3D.
Music isn't an issue since the YM3812 sound chip emulator can run at 22050hz and still sound good.

well i mean, the control stick seems to be too loose, but that may be because it is running so fast, and the button layout should have square and circle switched, because you can hit square without releasing x if need be, but not with circle

Well, the speed issue will be fixed in the next release but like I said in the first post you can remap the buttons by modifying imap.txt.
