is it possible to take the firmware like that of 1.5 and edit it to make it think its firmware 2.9 so people could downgrade?

OH. I see what you mean.

This has been done, but the updae itself detects that the PSP isnt 1.00 so it doesnt update

I dont quite understand you, cheese the psp.
Do you mean editing the index.dat on a 1.5, and then somehow downgrading to 1.0?
Or do you mean edititing a 1.5 update to read 2.9, and then running it on a 2.81, to downgrade?
Or do you mean editing the 1.5 index.dat to read 2.9, somehow flashing it to a 2.81 psp, to downgrade?

In all of the above cases, it wont work, and has been tried many, many times.

As in, making a 2.81 run a 1.50 update.

Again, the 1.50 update itself doesnt begin because its older. It does boot it, though.

Not possible. Ever. Good try but a simple search would have brought up hundreds of topics with the same idea.

instead of 1.5 why not try 2.71? its new-er and can be downgraded!

NO, it won't work with any firmware, not even 1.51, so don't bother trying.

Why do that to yourself? 2.71 is total crap. 1.50 has so much raw history and has so much good homebrew :P
