Hi guys, i'm having a problem installing psptoolchain.
I has everything alright, before formating the HD. After installing Windows XP Prof. i try to install everything again and i got an error when installing "toolchain.sh". Take a look: Code:
ShUr1k3n@PC1 ~/source/psptoolchain $ ./toolchain.sh ERROR: Please make sure you have 'automake' installed. I delete the cygwin folder and tried again, downloading from another server, no luck. I also try to install in another drive. Any suggestion? |

While installing , did you'll have to check some additional packages.
Try insomniac's tut here.. it has pics for packages. http://insomniac.0x89.org/index.php?id=56 Maybe its because you have not installed some of them. |

Make sure you selected Automake from the packages list. If it does say that it's installed try reinstalling just Automake. |

I had the exact same problem.
I ended up having to install it manually. But, when you do that, it refuses to install extra packages, such as the PNG one. So, I just quit and started moving to LUA

Installing cygwin is hell. You could try to type "automake" at the cygwin prompt to make sure all your paths are configured. In your cygwin startup script, you should have something like PATH=C:/cygwin/bin/ or something like that to make sure that the cygwin shell can run programs located in that folder such as automake. If you have admin rights on your PC, you can go to system properties, the last tab (can't remember the name) and click on the Environment variables and select $PATH. Add to the $PATH string ;C:/cygwin/bin. That's how I fixed it on my PC. A real linux platform such as Suse Linux 10.1 is better but I wouldn't recommend trying to install a dual-boot of linux + windows setup unless you have previous linux installation experience OR a very newb friendly distro like Suse OR preferrably both.

Since this thread has been started and i DO have a problem with cygwin and svn.ps2dev.org....
ok so here my problem, i install everything correctly boot up cygwin type in svn update i dont get a reply from the server it just times out. so i thought what the hell lets try and run the god damn toolchain.sh. so i do that that works all fine untill it trys to update: binutils-2.16.1.tar.gz gcc-4.0.2.tar.bz2 newlib-1.13.0.tar.gz again it trys to connect to ps2dev.org. a few minutes go by and it tells me that the binutils has an error and the script stops!!!!! yeargh. so now i try to visit ps2dev.org in the web browser it even times out there!!! am i missing something? or is the site down? or am i being blocked!? oh and wiki.ps2dev.org works for some reason unknown... so my question would be this, what can i do to bypass this, or where can i get the updated binutils, gcc, and newlib. thank you for reading |

Binutils and gcc might be availabe from the main binutils and gcc homepage. I'm not sure what the URL though is but I bet google knows it.
Actually, when I ran the toolchain.sh in linux, it insisted on updating my gcc even though rpm -q gcc clearly told me that the gcc already installed is a higher version :|
