I've tried countless times trying to set up CYGWIN, I've read different tutorials but none are working so I wanted to know if there was another program to code TIFF.

Try this it's the way I set the SDK up on my windows system some time ago.

Install Cygwin http://www.cygwin.com/ and add the extras in the list below.

Code:
devel>autoconf2.1
devel>automake1.9
devel>gcc
devel>gcc-g++
devel>make
devel>patchutils
devel>subversion
web>wget
editors>vim

Now run run Cygwin (witch should be installed in c:\cygwin\ if not you will know where, and from now on x:\ is c:\ or what ever you used)

Edit .bash_profile

Code:
vi .bash_profile
Enter this:

Code:
export PSPDEV="/usr/local/pspdev"
export PSPSDK="$PSPDEV/psp/sdk" export PSPPATH="$PSPDEV/bin:$PSPDEV/psp/bin:$PSPSDK/bin"

Close and reopen Cygwin

Code:
cd ~/
Code:
mkdir /usr/local/pspdev
Code:
svn co svn://svn.ps2dev.org/psp/trunk/psptoolchain
Code:
cd psptoolchain
Code:
./toolchain.sh

3. It is hard to set-up, But i just set it up to correspond with Bloodshed and now all i do is hit the compile button and my code is already for the PSP.

4. Cygwin isnt hard to setup if you have a good general knowledge of how to operate Windows :P

Than just follow the tutorial exactly.

5. When I enter
svn co svn://svn.ps2dev.org/psp/trunk/psptoolchain
It gives me an error???

Are you serious?! O_O This whole time I was trying to install under Drive D... well thanks, I'll try XD.

But I have like 1 gb left in C, you think Cygwin will fit?

20. 1 GB !!! how big is cygwin anyway ?

For vi usage instructions, just type "man vi".
Vi can be confusing for beginners, might be worth installing "nano" or another easy editor.

With the pspsdk installed its round about 2gb.

That is only the base SDK no extra libs.

24. Any clue as to why its larger on disk than not?

And actually, you cant install cygwin on a 1gb as you first need to downloadall the tools, and thats around 1/2 a gigabyte, whereas it actually installs and it doubles it. Itll be a very tight fit. I put it on my laptop that has 2 harddrives both 2 gb big. I had to point cygwin to download all the files neded to C, than install it on D. Best of luck :)

25. wow ......

26. the unique warrior, why do you hate him? (see his sig) I bet there is no reason. One day he'll be the greatest programmer, and make a playstation 45.

27. No, im no where near the greatest. I know atleast 10 others much better than I.

As for hating me, i havent a clue - i dont see why they'd hate someone trying to help a small portion of the scene's homebrew (2.8 TIFF homebrew), but whatever, Ill be the bigger man and ignore it.

Hey - you get your problem all sorted out ZeroMega?

Files are stored on the disk in what is called called clusters (a group of disk sectors). Size on disk refers to the amount of cluster allocation a file is taking up, compared to file size which is an actual byte count. The lowest cluster size for FAT32 is 2K, so if the actual file only needs a small portion of the cluster, the size on disk for that file will reflect the entire cluster as being used.

I've actually decided to hold off cygwin until my new computer arrives, it has a lot of memory so I'll install it there.

30. Whenever I enter ./toolchain.sh it comes up with:
ERROR: Please make sure you have 'automake' installed.

What stupid mistake am I making?
