Ok, for those who have emailed me I have just gotton back and be going threw them now and uploading the files to the restricted area for developers only, I will be using this area for alpha and beta versions of any of my projects so other developers can see them before they get released and perhaps get some ideas for your own homebrews.

I am hoping to have a basic site up and runing soon, this will give out an encryption key and a decryption key and download the DAS header & C files to include in your projects

I will not explain how the two keys are generated, but if you are a very good developer and know C/C++ well you should have no problem working it out, but if you do, please don't tell others as any info will exite credit stealers.

we don't whant them to ever know how to get round our ways of protecting our hard work.

keys will be unique to all developers, so no one developer can decrypt anothers work, unless you are a team and can share your keys with them but not the download DAS files, they have to get them files there self to make sure this stays in our hands only.

I am not 100% sure what DAS does. Does it protect source or assets?

It's main goal is to protect art work and credits from being taken or changed by users using hex edit tools and will also stop others taken credit for your hard work.

So if you had worked very hard on some great looking sprites or icons that you don't whant others to use in there homebrew and every one prayses on his/her good designs when they are yours you can protect them with DAS

I don't intend for it to drive a wedge between each developer but to make sure that you can protect parts that you don't whant others to take but still give somethings back to other developers, after all take Apple it has a lot of open source sofftware that they used and gived back out but not everythink is open source with Apple, like the Aqua interface thats closed source.

If Apple did give all of it away as open source, what you think Microsoft would do, yes take credit for Apple's hard work and that is why not every think should be open, just enougth to help others.

I beleave if we get oganized and work together sharing code on a secure location we can show Sony we are not mesing around.

It feels like Sony sees us as kids, im 33 and am no kid Sony.
all I can say if Sony is reading this, just watch out I have big projects lined up for PSP Development

I am laying down the foundation now and organizing my website and have just been learning the PSP, now I will start to show what i can realy do with it.

This is where I am getting confused, on one hand you are talking about protecting assets, on the other, you are talking about a secure source repository.

I can only assume that you are talking about two seperate themes here. One being the DAS which is in the repository that you are talking about. Correct?

If it is, then is the repository under source control or just a file server?

The web area for das will also be a place for other things like sharing source code that could lead to an exploit and don't whant it to be public so sony can see it.
it will have some tools for programming like uploading a binary file and getting back the file for embeding in C/C++ in hex form or C string form

I am still working on the site area for this and just working out the security site of things at the moment.

I think I get it now. I recommend getting source control up for other developers to use, SVN or Perforce should suffice. It will be much better to manage and share/modify code for developers and still be secure as all users will need a username and password and it will be on a private server (which is what I am using in addition to task/bug trackers).

hope developers here are finding DAS easy enough to use and is working fine for them.

Dark AleX may be leaving caused by a number of issues, one is other users using his name for bad homebrew, ye bricker homebrew

with DAS my aim is to stamp this out as well as credit stealing before it gose to far and we are left with no developers at all.

If Dark AleX dose leave I would exspect the code be handed to Noobz to continue with as it is there area.

With DAS user will now know if homebrew can be trusted by checking it with a system I am looking into building were you can take a file and check it on my site to see if it gives a green go ahead or red don't use it

so basicaly I am thinking along select a file threw the website it uploads and checks it out.

I am actually surprised that MD5 hash checking (although not 100%) for files like downgraders was not introduced since the last time something like this happened.

MD5 was looked at and found it to be tottaly useless for what I needed.

good encryption but size could vary no good for what I needed.

DAS scrambls and unscrambls data it is not realy a encryption but simply a scrambling method for making hex editing imposible as it would break the data when unscrambled.

I can't tell you how it works fully unless you are a developer.
this is to make sure it keeps content safe as possible for developers
