Default XDS Format

Some of you may remember awhile back when I made a thread about the .xpd format used to download games. In 3.0 the .xds format has been incorporated to download videos. The format is quite similar to .xpd.

An example from an Untold Legends trailer download is attached.

I think it's a file that is used to download videos from the Internet, but is a video file itself. My PSP's at home... I forgot that and I wrote that I would try it right now. I'm going home at 10:30 PM...

No. It is a file that just contains info about a video. It states the title, size, download location, etc. When you click on it via the PSP browser it will directly download the video and thumbnail file to the proper folder.

I uploaded a video to Youtube to show you how it works: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XwQ4B-IHjD4

For some reason the link isn't working. Just search for videos made by TeamOverload and you'll find it.

That's cool. But won't it be hard just to find the .XDS Files?

The XDS file has to actually be hosted online and you need to click on it yes. The XDS files aren't hard to find, all videos downloaded from the official Sony site have them to trigger the download. If you click on it, it executes. If you press triangle and choose save target as, then you can save the XDS file.

Ah..... I see. Now, I have another question. Do the video and the XDS file have to be hosted in the SAME host? Or can they be separated?

Look at the one attached on the first page, and it should give you a basic understanding. The files are plain text, so you can simply edit the name, the size(isn't checked, so you can set it to whatever value you want) and the two download links.

Ah, okay, I haven't opened it yet. I'll see to it.

EDIT: Here's what the .xds file says:

[Info]
EID=NVL#
Desc=Untold Legends: Brotherhood of the Blade Trailer 5
Duration=0
Size=8379
NPage=http://psp.us.playstation.com/videos.aspx?id=11413&ty=t rue

[File]
C=http://trailers.playstation.com/ps2/psp/AVC/MAQT5003.MP4
T=http://psp.us.playstation.com/Content/Movies/11413/PSPDownloadImage/image_127x72_1.jpg

If we edit this to direct at our servers, it would be cool.

So you can edit Desc with what ever title you want, you can edit size, and the two file links.
