A easy guide, that i suggest all Vista users:
1. Backup your Data
2. Install Linux or Windows XP
3. All Work!

...ok, ok (but this is my position), just a joke, have you used the last release? I this won't work, you must wait until Vista is supported...

Why would you have Vista as your only OS? That really is a horrible idea at this point in time.

^ I have both... have you actually used Vista over XP ?

The Final Builds are very nice infact... they support all my hardware out of the box, except for specialist stuff like GFX drivers, sound ect.

Does XP do this ? No...

The folder views are also much better.

I Tri Boot at the Minute actually, (XP, Vista, and something else depending..)

Yes. Unless maybe you bought your computer from some Korean company called 'Del' or 'Gatebay'.

As far as Vista is concerned, its nice if you have a large network, but aside from that there is really no reason to shell out the 300-500 dollars. Though thats assuming you 'paid' for it.

Compatibility is also an issue (albeit much less so than the beta builds), and I have a few programs that simply won't run. Cygwin being one of them.

Personally I just recommend switching to a Linux distro. Its quite evident in Vista that tightening security is a trend that isn't going away, and if you're one who likes to work 'against the box', you're gonna be ****ed in a few years.

Well thats my two cents anyways.

I always considered Graphics and Sound to be pretty standard features on an OS. I wouldn't call it specialist stuff.

Better yet, if you have a tri-boot, that 3rd partition is probably something UNIX based. (unless you're running Unununium or Plan9), in which you don't even need Cygwin.
