Default [RELEASE] Vsh_Ftpd_Module_01 for DA 3.03 FW

Hello, its been a long time again since i havnt do anything on my psp, but i'm back again with what i think to be a cool stuff

Its a ftp server that will run under the vsh, launched with the updater icon from the psp menu. There is some bug left but i think it is already in an usable state. I hope you will find this cool.

EDIT : I forgot to say that if you send homebrews via ftp, you should enter in the game saves menu for exemple then comeback under the game menu to update the list

Here is the download link and the readme :

http://mydedibox.homelinux.com/downl...dule_01.tar.gz

Code:
VSH FTPD MODULE BY CPASJUSTE
============================

This is a port of PSP-FTPD originaly created by PSPKrazy, continued by Zx-81 then modded by cpasjuste
to work as module under the 3.03 VSH.

This is not a final version, there is some bugs. For exemple, when the module is launched, it will be impossible
to enter the video menu from the vsh. I think the problem is the lack of free memory available under the vsh.
The module work in infrastructure mode, selecting the first connection set in the network configuration
of the PSP, in either dhcp mode or static ip mode.
The module is flashed to flash0:/vsh/nodule/update_plugin.prx, replacing the current one. By selecting
the update icon under the PSP menu, the ftpd server will be launched in anonymous mode. Browsing PSP menu and launching
homebrews while the ftpd is running should not cause problem.
Source code will be released soon.

INSTALL AND USE
===============

- Copy the content of the MS_ROOT folder at the root of the memory stick.
- Launch Vsh_Ftpd_Flasher under the game menu of the PSP.
- Press Circle to replace the current update_plugin.prx module with the ftpd one.
- Select the Updater icon under the PSP menu (VSH) to launch the ftpd server.
- Connect to your PSP with your favorite FTP client as anonymous on port 21.
  (note that for now there isnt any info printed on the screen, so you have to either
   set a static ip or know/find your dynamic ip yourself)

GREATS
======
 - PSPKrazy and Zx-81 for the PSP-FTPD server.
 - Tyranid for is work on the PSP SDK and psplink.
 - Dark_Alex for is work on the custom's firmware.
 - People i may forget.

NOTE
====

 THE MODULE WILL BE FLASHED TO YOUR PSP, WHILE THIS AS BEEN TESTED A LOT BY ME AND SHOULD BE SAFE,
 THIS IS CAN BRICK YOUR PSP, YOU ARE WARNED

Wow, if this is for real then you are a genius! I won't be testing it until I hear what others have to say. Part of me wants to believe that you're lying. But that's just healthy paranoia of a bricked PSP.

Cpasjuste, you are amazing. My PSP is beginning to resemble my modded Xbox in functionality a little more every day now. This prx will come in a lot of use!

Now if someone could come up with a stable Xvid player, and I would have the perfect system to accompany XBMC.

Great job Cpasjuste. It works like a charm.
First try with FileZilla, I transferred a 6mb mp3 in about 30 sec. lovely.
I renamed the .prx to lftv_plugin.prx and flashed it with the rbprx_v0.2 installer to make it work under Loc.Free.Player.
Many of the users most likely dont want to take away the reboot.prx under Network update, so this is a nice way to have them both. And it just fits so nicely under "Network".
If it was possible to make a unload prx function to it, so that the psp would'nt have to be rebooted to turn off the client, that would be nice. (like hold L_trigger and press Cross)
Looking forward to your next release.

What? the name change, and the location of the "launch"?
I cannot post the topmenu_plugin, as that is considered to be an illegal file to host.
But read thru this, and you should figure out what to do. (thats how I learned it)
To flash it in that location, read thru my earlier post, and that should explain it for you. (Rename it to lftv_plugin.prx ... and so on)
If you're still having probs, just ask here.
Good luck.
I can make a package for the flash location for you, but you take FULL responsability for what you do to your psp.
If that is ok, let me know, And I'll host it for a little while, so you can get it.

@NorthernFusion

That looks really cool!

For people unsure this allows you to transfer files to your PSP over a Wifi connection. Instead of adding and deleting your PSP files through USB, with this you can do it with wifi. There has been a homebrew like this in the past, but now its effectively built into the XMB like the USB connection. I always wanted something like this, I'd rather do everything wirelessly rather than USB For more information- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FTP

@Cpasjuste

You are legend in my books, Like I said I always wanted to be able to run an FTP server on the PSP via the XMB, and you've done it! A very well done

Sweet app, though I do have a few suggestions.
1. A way to turn it back off (like simply hit enter on it again...)
2. A Sony-Style popup (i believe there are tools that allow you to bring them up yourself) to choose a network connection. and potentially (I.E. hold L, press Square while app is turned on, something of that effect) to popup the IP Adress.
just a couple suggestions, but this is DEFINATELY a GREAT start. I hope this plugin goes FAR. Good work, keep it up!

Default only half working here :(

I couldnt get this to work using the method in the readme.

after some thought i added the path to the module in the vsh.txt and it now functions, but only from XMB, not in homebrew (tried adding to game.txt and it doesnt work).

Is there any point in me trying to flash it to location free player? (I'd rather do more typing here, and less flashing )

Cpasjuste, do you know of any way to fix this issue ?

This is made to work from flashing it, and using it under Update Network.
If you want to use it under loc.free.player you'll have to do some changes to it and use another installer. (see my earlier post)
If you use it as a plugin in seplugins folder and it works there, Im guessing it will stay on forever. (unless you dissable it in recovery mode)
This will cause the psp to use ALOT of battery, and it will get HOT.
You are not supposed to use it while running homebrew etc, this is for transfering files between your psp and pc without a usb cable.

I would reccomend Filezilla or even the firefox FTP add on. You can even just use Windows Explorer! Anways obviously firstly run the FTP server on the PSP, then just type the PSP FTP servers IP Address (ftp://192.168.X.X) into the FTP client your using and hit connect and thats it, you should be ready to go. Add/delete files to/from your PSP wirelessly

i did flash it.

it wouldnt work

so just to test it, i added 'flash0:/vsh/nodule/update_plugin.prx' in vsh.txt

I'll just go ahead and restore it on the net upd. and use location free player spot instead... I'll post again once i've done that tomorrow

Witch ftp client are you using on your pc?
And when you flashed it to the network update, and hit X on it in the xmb, does your wifi light turn green, or does it stay black/off?
If it turns green, it means its working.
I'm thinking you're having problems connecting it to your pc's ftp client, instead of the prx being the problem.
I recommend FileZilla to use on your computer.
And btw, what security do you have on your wireless router? (not sure if that could cause you any trouble, but you'll never know...)

Looks like 13 letters would be the most for that.

The wifi light doesnt go on at all.

Im using WEP, only 64 bit (so i know the key by heart ) - which doesnt really matter as the ssid isnt broadcast and the connections have to be MAC specific.

FTPRush is what i use.

I dont see how these two things are relevant tho - cause the .prx works in vsh once i've added it to the .txt in seplugins 'flash0:/...' remember.

I've thought about it and had the idea it could actually be the psp (harleyg's hwident says its the dreaded ta-082)

but i bought it as a 1.5 (which means it's either one of the few rare 1.5 82's or it was hard-downed) so im 99% sure the idstorage isnt fúcked up so thats off the list of could be's too.

It'd be good if someone following this thread who owns a ta-082 which was origionally 1.5 (NOT downgraded [softdown at least]) could try out this daemon and let me know if they had problems too.

Works perfect!! Just transfered a 4mb mp3 in 1 min using Core FTP. Renamed it to lftv_plugin and flashed it with the rbprx_v0.2_with_installer . Attempted to delete file thur ftp but it did not delete it from the stick. Also in the next release if a start /stop function of some sort, would be great.

Good morning.
One more thing just too make sure:
Try my "setup" and flash it to the loc.free, but dont add any text too vsh.txt under seplugins folder.
If you have it in vsh.txt, just remove the "ms0:/seplugins/........prx.
it should'nt go in there, and just to make sure, you havent flashed the .txt, have you?

Why do you try and use it in game/homebrew?
The psp will crash when you use it with other app because this plugin uses the memstick constantly, and when you try to use other stuff on the memstick at the same time, it will run out of memory and crash.
So if you try to use it with your pc's ftp client at the same time as your running, lets say Snake.v07, it will crash on you..
While using this plugin, the only thing you really can do, is browse your VSH, but dont play mp3, watch videos or use homebrew.
Theres your solution, so if its up and running in VSH, dont use your psp in any other way, than transferring files between it and your pc.
Follow these basic rules and you should be fine.

I know Cjaspaste said: "Browsing PSP menu and launching
homebrews while the ftpd is running should not cause problem"
But obviously it does for you, and I dont see any point in transfering files whilst playing a game.
But thats just me.
I'll give it a go on using the plugin and loading a homebrew, just to see what happens.
update# I had it up and running, accesing the psp over my ftpd client (filezilla), ran a homebrew app, and the ftpd_plugin turnes itself off, repeated the process, same thing happened. (nice way to turn it off)
So your thought about the dreaded ta082 could be whats causing the problem.

Yes of course, maybey i have not explain correctly, but what i mean is that you can browse game menu under the vhs while transferring files, but of course it wont work while you launch a game/homebrew since the module was written to work under 3.03 firmware.

ok, a quick noob question, as i want to be totally safe - i dn't have to use the "other" installer that northern fusion used to install this to loc. free, right? I'm planning on using pspfiler to simply copy the prx over, and delete (and of course back up) the camera prx's. I just want to make sure that i'll have enough room, and i never trust the auto-installers (i guess if it bricks you can blame the machine), as evidenced by the mass bricking with the downgrader auto-install.
