WHAT YOU NEED
-------------

1a. A decrypted topmenu_plugin.rco for 3.0x. You can make one of these using any other xmb icon customizing program or you can browse the forums and find one.
AND/OR
1b. a decrypted game_plugin.rco from 2.50. You can decrypt one yourself with psar dumper and the 2.50 update eboot.

2. Visual Basic 6 Runtime Library. Get it here or from Microsoft.

3. Icons. 64x64 pixel 256 color bitmaps with a file size of roughly 5.05 KB.

INSTRUCTIONS
------------

1. Select your plugin file and select the icons you wish to inject.

2. Hit the Inject button which applies, either Inject Topmenu or Inject Game.

3. Flash your plugin file to the f0:/vsh/resource folder with your favorite flashing utility (I like flash-USB access in 3+ OE firmwares).

ADDITIONAL NOTES
----------------

-3.0x topmenus ARE NOT compatible with 3.1x firmwares. There are no programs out yet to change 3.1x topmenus.
-If you get the temp.mig error, try again. If you get it 3 times in a row, check the Troubleshooting section.
-Any time you prepare to mod your PSP, you should back up the files you are about to change.
-The program now checks the size of the icon you are trying to inject. It will not allow you to try to use any icon over 5500. This is to try to prevent the errors users were having from using incorrectly formatted icons.
-The picture to replace the loading icon must be very small. None of the icons I tried from the fat pack worked. I had to make my own so I included the one I made.
-The offset to change the label for your corrupted icon in the game_plugin is 0x2bdc - 0x2bf7 (hex) or 11228 - 11255 (dec).

nice update to a great program well done mate, keep it up...

everything worked great, but I did however get a temp mig error message the first time, but was easily fixed by checking the slow down option..
so anyone getting errors, first try the different options before posting that you can't get it to work..

the only real problem I had is with those damn corrupt and load icons. none of the icons I wanted to use as them would work..

Checking slow should not be necessary. Just keep trying to inject. If you get the temp.mig error more than 3 times, check the Troubleshooting section. Also, as I mentioned, the picture for the loading icon needs to be tiny. That's why I supplied the one I used. The way I made it was I took a regular sized PSP icon, copied it and blacked out the original, i shrank the copy down 50% then I pasted it back into the now-blank original. That way I get a smaller version of the icon but it's still the correct size and format.

What's the prob with editing 3.1X topmenus? Is it impossible, or did they just change the format abit, so a new wau to edit them soon?

After getting this, i try to launch it and it doesn't work, it says "system error &H8007007E (-21470247770) the specified module was not found"....and v2.0 does the same too now.

That's not any error message associated with my program. I think it's some issue your system is having. Try reinstalling the vb6 runtime libraries.

Got it working, great app. I had to run ccleaner and fix some registries because of active x .ocx errors....thank god for google.

I'm about to downgrade to 3.03, now that we can use any pops on it...

I'm glad to see you got all the icons hacked, and even included me in the thanks to list!

[UPDATE]
I've seen some people changing their UMD, MS, NETWORK UPDATE and other icons, when I know how do they do it, I'll let you know.

Meanwhile I have a suggestion: enable/disable the PSP logo under the gameboot intro movie, it is in the game_plugin.rco.

To disable it you have to change the vale in the offset 14869 (decimal) from 7D to whatever you want.

[UPDATE 2]

It seems that the one who changed the UMD&Co icons simply changed them like the other ones, and it worked.

He did it using the "recreate icons by ac_k" program, wich can change all 66 icons (including the shadow and hover ones)

I hope this can help to allow your program to change all xmb icons.

One question....

I know how to create Icons and they are created perfectly 5.5kb and they are 64x64 and 256 colors. These worked on my TOP MENU using another mod.

I created another Icon to try out this mod for USB Connection.

The icon is 64x64 / 256 Colors / 5.5 and it WONT WORK..

Whats up with this?

I checked the actual real size of the file:

This software requires: 5.174 bytes
Mine are : 5.176 bytes.


How do I take off some bytes off my image? and please would you take this LIMIT off in a new releases.. IF people gets over the size then they'll mess up the thing and XMB wont load for them.. if they are right on it or under GOOD for them.

If my TOP icons were fine using 2 more bytes... The USB connection would too.. But this limit is just messing things up.


Would someone help me here? i have no idea how to cut off 2 bytes from my icon.

Mime, the limits are there to prevent semi-bricks from happening, which is what could happen if you start overwriting the wrong things in your topmenu. Actually the program will let you try to use bitmaps up to 5500 bytes long. What's happening to you is that the converted size of the bitmap is too large for the slot. See the real issue isn't the actual size of your bmp, but how large the dat file generated from it is going to be. If the generated dat is too big, then writing it will almost certainly result in part of your topmenu being damaged. Part of designing good software is trying to reduce any possible source of error. These checks are not optional. But what you can do is shink the generated size of your icons by making them simpler. Try shrinking the image so that the icon (same dimensions of course) has more blank space in it. Also you can try reducing the number of colors in the color palette. I had to do both these things to create an icon that would work in the loading icon position (for which the resulting dat file must be less than 667 bytes in order to fit).

I only made a few icons and only when I had to. I use Paint Shop Pro for my image editing. The quickest procedure to figuring something out is reading the manual. So get a image editor and open that help file. Good luck.
